Thanks RV. I really don't want to - I've only had the car 6 months --- but since it tells me to turn on roads - that are not there .....and it told me to turn left in a tunnel last week - I probably should. I did call Mapnsoft to see if they could at least tell me if they updated my area or not. I couldn't get an answer - and I'm not entirely sure he even understood me.

I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet and pay to have it updated. One last question - I did look to see where the card would go - and I understand that it is behind the screen - but once the screen is open - it only stays open for a minute - certainly not enough time to change the card. Is there a way to keep it open until I am finished - once I get the card? Thanks again.

You do get a wrench to open the card slot. The instructions are on their website. All you have to do is remove the old card and put in the new one. Also don't lose the wrench since it's the only one they'll give you.

These are the instructions. I still recommend the CF card option since it's the same price once they send you the rebate. Who wants to not have nav for 15 days.

The nav database is made by Navteq and not Mapnsoft aka M&Soft. Navteq and Teleatlas are the 2 major companies that make US mapping data. Mapnsoft is simply a reseller of navteq mapdata for Hyundai cars. LG makes the system but it could be designed by Navicom. The Manual mentions navicom. The CF card is about 8 GB so thats equivalent to a DVD system.

Thanks for the information RV - but according to Navteq and Teleatlas - they don't make these for the Hyundai. I wish they did because I am not pleased with Mapnsoft so far. I truely believe I have a defective card - since it frequently - but not always - tells me to turn left where there are no roads - nor have roads ever existed and as I mentioned before - in tunnels. The attitude I have got from them is "OH WELL". A technician checked out their card on one of the routes that I complained about - and told me that the route was to continue straight on the highway ( a major highway) until I reached the city I was going to. I knew that - I told him that in the first place - but the navigator told me to turn left several times ... and right several times (there were no left turns on the highway) ... and the rights would have taken me the real long way around. Anyway - their solution is for me to buy a updated card. I think they should replace the one I have - but it looks like they are going to win.

BUT again - thank you for all your help! Linda

Mapnsoft has a number for LGE ASC. LGE ASC is presumably the manufacturer of this system. Their number is 1-888-599-6284. LG might be able to answer your questions. The Nav manual lists navteq as the database.

Scripton - have you ever sorted out the darned Azera Nav ports? It has the same Nav as the Azera and Veracruz and I'm so beyond frustrated. I want to buy a Santa Fe and understand I can't buy one with Nav AND get iPod integration. Unreal.

I refuse to give up on this.

I hear next year they are ditching the LG system for a new nav system. The new one is actually a variant of the 09 Sonata's system. That one does support iPod if you buy the $30 cable. The $30 cable is no big deal. You can get it when you purchase the car. It plugs into both aux and USB and gives you full iPod control.

There is a guy on a forum who got a free map update from mapnsoft.com and Hyundai. It does require you to fill out paperwork but getting them to reimburse you will be the hard part. Some dealers might be able to purchase it for you as a goodwill gesture and let Hyundai reimbursing you.

Possibe?? 08 Navi unit on an 07 by wobbly_ears

Can the navigation unit from an 08 Azzy be retrofitted onto 07?

I have an 07 & although I wanted to get the navi for my car, it wasn't available when I bought it. If an 08 Navi unit could be retrofitted toan 07, it would be perfect.

The reason I don't want to go for an after-market unit is because I want to maintain the OEM look. Plus, I want the steering mounted controls & Infinity system to work. I know there are some knock-off chinese ones on ebay, but I don't trust their quality. Would rather prefer an OEM.

Any ideas? (Also, how much do you think it might cost for the unit? I tried to find online but wasn't able to)

Hey Wobbly...if you get an aftermarket unit with say a 6.5-7" screen, it'll pretty much keep the factory look. I took out my OEM Infinity unit and replaced it with a Pioneer unit and to this day, folks still ask me if it's the unit that came with the car. Scosche makes a wiring harness that allows the aftermarket unit to use the factory peripherals (amps and speakers). I am using the OEM Infinity amp in my set up so I could retain my center channel. However, I replaced all the speakers except for the tweeters and I removed the factory subwoofer.

As far as steering wheel controls go...you can order an adapter that will allow you to use them.

Honestly...good luck finding an OEM unit. For the same money or a few dollars more, you can get an aftermarket unit that will give you better sound, better performance and much more upgradability (iPod, Bluetooth, HD radio, Satellite radio...etc).

For the money...see if you can beat this unit here. Do some research and check Eclipse out too.
