motobob, we have the same kind of question..i've "heard" there are i/o ports on "some" of the LG nav units, in fact one may be for mp3 and another might be for a HD radio module. If no one can answer this soon I'm going to pull the unit out of my 08 and see what exists on the back of the lg unit, anyone out there see the back of that lg nav unit yet??

Complaints of no cd changer w/nav system by allmet33

Considering we are in the age of iPods and MP3 players, disc changers are falling to the way side. The new Azeras and pretty much all the vehicles mentioned in this forum are going to have iPod/MP3 integration available no matter if you have the radio or the nav unit.

Personally, I love the in-dash 6 disc changer, but...with the right iPod or MP3 player...you can put much more music on one of those as opposed to 6 CD's.

As far as there being any i/o ports for customer use on the back of the OEM unit...don't hold your breath. In most cases, you will find none. Your best bet if that is the case is to either hard wire an FM modulator and go that route or use a wireless FM modulator. The last option...replace the whole unit with a nice aftermarket one that has all the bells and whistles you could ask for.

Anyone have any information on replacing the navigation unit in the Veracruz? Would like to put in a Pioneer AVIC F900BT but no one has a wiring harness to match the factory wiring. Also seems to be issues with the steering wheel controls and the XM / Sat receiver?

Go to the Scosche website and get the number to contact them. The Veracruz has been out long enough that they should have one for it. If not...ask them how long it will be before one is available. I bought my Azera in Feb/Mar '06 and I wasn't able to get the harness until about October of that same year and the one I got was straight from the manufacturer as nobody was selling them yet.

If the XM receiver is separate, you may have to look for an adapter. Steering wheel controls are almost always a separate issue, but there's a company called PAC that makes adapters...check them out.

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

M&Soft has the updates for the Azera up for pre order. It costs $200 but if you order it before the 31st and use the code PRE1 you get $80 off. Hope this helps.

I just reviewed the map updates from mapnsoft which look decent. But, does anyone know if there are any system or firmware upgrades to the Nav unit / Stereo from LG? I can't find any info on the unit at all on the LG site.

I was told there were no changes to the system except for map, phone number, and POI data. Many who have ordered the update were not aware until after the fact that they have to send in the CF card from their unit and wait ~15 days to get it back with the map update loaded on it. This means the system is inoperable until they get the CF card back from M&Soft. The other option is to front an additional $100 to get a pre-loaded CF card, send back the old one, and get a $100 refund. Not exactly 21st century technology.

MapnSoft only does the map updates. I am looking for any info about updates from LG for the rest of the system.

BTW, MapnSoft sounds like it is an ultra small startup company. At least their US operations gives me that impression.

Mapnsoft.com is the US arm of M&Soft which is a large company when it comes to mapping software. They make map software worldwide. They have 70 percent of the market share in Korea.

Well they need to ramp up their US operations as I said. Their website has much to be desired. Not to mention their process for updating CF cards. $100 deposit or no Nav for 15 days. How is that even practical?

Look at Garmin's website and their map update process. Not perfect. But, at least I don't have to give them a $100 deposit or be without my Nav for OVER 2 WEEKS.
