I can guarantee that the "Best Convertible over $60k" didn't include five votes: mine, my wife's, our two daughters and the owner of an XLR that we met at the gas station a couple of weeks ago. I pulled into the local Shell station with the top down and the family in all 4 seats. Next pump over was a guy my age (50-ish) with an XLR. He says, "nice car". I look at his and politely respond, "your's too". And then he unloads. (Rough Paraphrase) No, you're just being nice. This Cadillac is a piece of junk. I'm a lobbyist for a trade union and felt I needed to "buy American". Got this thing 4 months ago and it's been in the shop a half a dozen times. The roof rattles when it's up. The car pulled to the left and new tires and an alignment haven't fully fixed it. I've yet to get above 15 mpg. But worse than that, it is just boring to drive - automatic transmission, (only) 2 seats, heavy as hell (apologized to my 9 year old who heard that). His parting comment was, "this time next year, I'll have a different job/client and one of those (pointing to our 911). My wife doesn't even want to be seen around this thing. Have a nice day." I replied "you too", but it sounded like that was unlikely.

Replying to: Mr_Shiftright (May 16, 2007 6:38 am) Yes, I would say that is pretty low for the otherwise economical Northstar engine. There could still be a lot of variable's that could have played into that figure. Who knows what's going on with the car as far as maintenance or how its being driven. This car should be able to get mid-20's on the highway like other Northstar equipt cars. The Chevrolet Corvette who shares the same chassis but different engine can get upper 20 mpg if driven properly.

| Since the sales numbers don't agree with the voting, I would venture to say these voters did not buy the cars they were voting for. Those (sales numbers) would be the votes that count. | |
