In the case of the Colorado/Canyon rejects, I think the Nissan Frontier is far more capable. Like I said, a 15 year old Ford ranger offers more capability. As C&D noted, GM didn't even TRY to compete here. GM once again shows utter lack of effort... In the case of GM minivans, well, the market has spoken. Those clunkers are toast. Yet they make number 2 ahead of the Toyota Sienna which IMHO IS the class leader here. With AWD and better fuel economy AND outstanding crash tests unlike the GM deathtraps which were frankenstiened into ugly pugs just to avoid further embarrassment... There are THAT many people who still voted for them??? lol Again, as I mentioned, the DTS, a front drive fogey mobile with about as much excitement as vanilla yogurt beats out the 7-series and S-Class??? Must be a bunch of retirees voting there huh? That, or funeral homes and Limo co. just love there cars... Oh, and the Cheapuinox, panned as a cheap, cost cutting disaster in pretty much EVERY review it's faced, strapped to a Shanghai dirtball beats out the CRV with better mileage, one of the most reliable vehicles on the road reputation and higher resale value than the Chevy (Or the rebadge wonderbomb, the Torent). Again, Enterprise renta-car just loves their GM's. The LS460, Tacoma and RAV4. They rest of the stuff they peddle is mediocre. Even though people may buy a lot of Camrollas does not mean they would not like a nicer Buick or Cadillac. I highly doubt those that buy Camry's and Corollas have a Buick or Cadillac in the

Colorado/Canyon - Just not a small truck I would buy/own. Even though the Tacoma is ugly would take it over the Colorado. Also the Frontier looks sharp and is able to rock and roll GM Minivans - I have 15 mile comute in a Vanpool - in a GM van. Keep in mind this is easy HOV lanes - not stop and go, no city traffic. Sorry to say but the van is a pile of junk. More rattles and squeaks than a bed in the warm sheet motel. I know the county sells them off at 80,000 miles, but I would not take one for free at that point. I would consider the new cadilacs if I were in the market. And the new Aura and Malibu look like world class cars. I am please that GM seems to be turning things around in some segments. High quality from GM will also drive Toyota/Honda and others to offer great cars as well. |

How about, and I think Gary will agree, a Ford Ranger Crew cab with a diesel engine in both 2 and 4 wheel drive. What I would REALLY like to see is Ford and GM get off the ethanol BS and start making truly fuel efficient cars be it diesel or what ever. I’m to the point that I don’t care about frills and fluff, I’ll ride on a sled if it gets 35 to 40 MPG. To give you more insight for my quest, I live in Washington State and we are second to Calif. for the highest gas prices in the nation, even higher than Hawaii. $3.45.9 a gal. for unleaded reg. as of 5/4

Replying to: jkinzel (May 06, 2007 9:11 pm)  You are right. Gas in Hilo is under $3.25 at the most expensive stations. I filled the rental for $3.18 today. At this time I would be happy with any mid sized diesel PU truck. Even a Toyota.

What were the questions and where was the survey taken? Some here do not believe the results due to their own bias on what they feel. Perhaps a little info on the process would help.
