Those were some of the most ridiculuous results ever in the history of the CMW.

Either 1 person logged in as 500 people, every Enterprise rental dealer on the planet voted or Edmunds staff all got new beach houses.

So now it's a conspiracy ????? I'm ROTFFLMAO. Well maybe Consumer Report's didn't get their "get out to vote" campaign ready to rig the elections this year.

Absolutely. We're talking some real losers here beating out the stalwarts. Designs that are 7 yo, having never even been close to winning before. I'm sorry, there was something WAY fishy about some of those winners.

Example: How does an overpriced flop lke the XLR beat out the 911 and SL? They sold like 2 of them last year. It was a dud out of the gate...

How does a 3 year old Cheapuinox come in second place with underpowered Chinese dirtball of an engine and an interior with about 10 cents worth of materials. Not to mention gas mileage that rivals my 7 passenger Acura MDX?

How does the Colorado and Canyon rank #2? Underpowered, completely outgunned by every truck on the planet including the 15 yo Ranger. No way.

A 7 year old CTS beating out the new 3-series, including the 335i and M3 models? Again, if that car reigns as the epitome of a luxury car, then give em a much nicer Kia thanks.

The STS landed on the market with a solid resounding thud and it's at the top? And the front drive grampsmobile DTS #2 over the rear drive/AWD Infiniti, MB and Audi.

Has nothing to do with CR. I don't know what they could do to fudge the rankings?

These results reek of a hack job and unfortunately there really isn't much that Edmunds can do to stop it. So they are what they are.

Well I like many people like the XLR better but just because we can't afford to own one doesn't mean their isn't enough of us that wouldn't. !!!! You gotta remember most folks who buy Cadillac's aren't "stuffy" like the owners of Mercedes and/or Porsche and their are a lot more of us than them.

People are going to vote with their wallet and what they know. Alot of folks like the Equinox, and I don't believe the engine is made in china, anymore. Just because something over-priced doesn't make it neccessarily better.

Well because for the money they aren't bad trucks and for 2007 they got a 22hp boost. They are go anywhere midsize trucks and you don't have to worry about your engine sludging up when your climbing a hill or hauling a deer out of the woods.

Well compared to the Bimmer's it does look and feel more like a luxury car. The Bimmer's are Fugly and the Bengal ass and grill isn't exactly beautiful. The Bimmer's look like Kia's in interior execution and I'm sure the 08' CTS played on a lot of folks mind as well. There is more to a car than taking twisty's.

The STS landed on the market with a solid resounding thud and it's at the top? And the front drive grampsmobile DTS #2 over the rear drive/AWD Infiniti, MB and Audi.

Well like them I picked the STS as the best. Remember this is a Consumer's Most Wanted and most folks can't see themselves getting ripped off on emblems. I know in many parts of the country one could put a BMW or MB emblem on a Yugo, and some would tout it was the great thing. The STS, is by far the best looking of the bunch and offer's as much if not more technology than the others at a fraction of the price.

I'm sure some folks on here will get all million subscribers to grab a screen name next year to vote all their left coast rides in.

LOL, so you definetly do believe in a conspiracy. If a hack job did this wouldn't you think they would of took even more categories ???? I think many folks are having a change of heart here lately and all the recalls and problems toyota has faced over the last few years has hurt their reputation. I suppose if they ever go back to hiding their problems again for another 8 years you will see them take the cake again.

I am intrigued by the prior rant and your responses. I think there is a kernel of truth to what you are saying, but I am surprised that sales so totally don't reflect the rankings in this list.

For me one thing must be said: I would absolutely rank the Colorado/Canyon second after the Tacoma. The current crop of midsize pick-ups is a poor sight in many respects, but I have quite liked the Colorado the few times I have had one to drive. Anythingbutgm may be comforted to know that the Tacoma won that one by quite a large margin, 47% to 30%.

If you gotta pick between the 911, XLR, and SL, you have a dedicated sports car and two GT cruisers to choose from. The Porsche doesn't really fit. Once you eliminate the 911, the XLR has a huge price advantage over the Mercedes.

Some of the others are more puzzling. The interior of the Equinox is really pretty bad for a car in that price class. At least it doesn't have the Chinese engine any more, as you mentioned. I am surprised they sold any of those the first year. As for the STS and DTS, what were they compared to?

And when it comes to CTS vs 3-series, I say forget them both and go with the G35, wonderful car (with slightly cheap interior) that it is. None of these cars have exciting or very luxurious interiors, seems to me, although I will add the caveat that I understand both the CTS and G35 have just been updated with improved interiors that I have not witnessed firsthand yet. On the outside I like the Infiniti best, and performance numbers are right there at the top of the class.

The XLR is an excellent car so I don't know where you get the flop from. Have you ever read Car & Driver or Motor Trend? I saw the car come in second place barely being edged out by the Mercedes, and the two door turtle looking Lexus came in last out of four. The interior is more than anyone could expect, and the chiseled edge styling is arguably best in class.

The Equinox is a very good small SUV and the old style American designed 3.4 L engine is very economical for its class. The interior is descent though not the leader in the class. All being said it is priced right for this catagory.

The Colorado/Canyon trucks are descent but as noted are underpowered for heavy work like activities. Because they don't have the heavy towing power doesn't make them bad. Just because someone in the class has a 260 hp or whatever engine doesn't mean that it is best in class. My dislikes for the Colorado's are the weird front ends, but that is about it. I would take the 4 cylinder model (2.9-185 hp-most in class for 4 cylinder) anyway. The redesigned model coming in 2009 will really shake up this class because it is pretty awesome looking compared to the current model.

...or Edmunds staff all got new beach houses.

Sitting in the dreary midwest, I can assure you that all of us most certainly didn't

These results are based on consumer votes, and yes, we do have a way to track & identify multiple IDs created by the same person. So, you have come to terms with one of two possibilities: 1) More people who favor GM products voted, or 2) Those GM products have made owners/shoppers happy.

Did you vote? I didn't. Shame on me.
