Is it just me, or did General Motor's stuff the ballot box for this year's Consumers' Most Wanted List? They won 13 categories (up from 6 last year) and had 9 vehicle take second place. They also won most significant vehicle of the year. I find this very surprising. What are your thoughts?

Interesting thing about many of the car classes is that they do the categories by price, so the GM car being compared was almost always a size class up - Cobalt to Yaris/Fit/Versa, Malibu to Civic/Mazda3, etc. I guess it proves people really do vote with their wallets, but then why aren't those models doing better for sales? The Corolla is by far the sales leader among compact cars right now, yet it was nowhere to be found in the narrative. Tacoma won though. RAV4 too with only 14%, although this one was reeeeeal close: Equinox at 13%, and CRV at 12%. And five years from now, it will be the Hyundai winning this category, I think. Aura just edged Accord and Camry in likewise fashion, 14/13/12%. I hope this is the beginning of great things at Saturn, including frequent product updates - ahem, GM, are you listening? Let's have a repeat of the Caddy effort here please! |
