That Caddy XLR is an excellent. If the guy did truly say it was junk than he should start reading the posts coming from the Lexus/Mercedes/BMW area of Edmunds. Expensive cars like this can have issues like anything else, but luckily it has a following of drivers that think it one of the best.

The 15 mpg seem to be accurate however...that's been reported from many other sources. The rest is just a database of one at the moment. It takes a few years to find out the reputation of low-production vehicles.

Yes, I would say that is pretty low for the otherwise economical Northstar engine. There could still be a lot of variable's that could have played into that figure. Who knows what's going on with the car as far as maintenance or how its being driven. This car should be able to get mid-20's on the highway like other Northstar equipt cars. The Chevrolet Corvette who shares the same chassis but different engine can get upper 20 mpg if driven properly.

They must have changed something. The XLR gets slapped with the gas guzzler tax of $1,700 but the Corvette doesn't. EPA says base XLR gets 17 city so in traffic you could easily drop below that.
 
Might be that Corvette first to fourth lock-out "feature" that does the trick for gas mileage difference.
 
I think a Vette can even hit the mid 20s in 6th gear.

A guy I went to college with has a C5 Vette that he can squeak nearly 30 mpg out of. At 65 mph in 6th gear it is turning 1,700 or so rpms.
 
He is an OCD electrical engineer though so he is constantly obsessing about efficiency.

Since the sales numbers don't agree with the voting, I would venture to say these voters did not buy the cars they were voting for. Those (sales numbers) would be the votes that count.

Just as a side note, indeed a C5 with the 6-speed manual can hit close to (or at) 30 mpg on the highway. As a note, at 65 mph it's turning closer to 1,500 rpm. 6th gear works out to about 45 mph per 1000 rpm. The acceleration isn't so great, but at 65 you have about 4 other gears to choose from.

GM needs more if they plan on taking back their #1 spot.
 
Advertising is terrible.
 
Cars are getting better, but still not what they were 20 years ago.
 
Camaro will help a bunch, but they need more.
