Thanks for your email. I will definetly keep that in mind, because coincidently just this morning, I went to start the car and also turned on the heater (low) and it made a popping sound and then the check engine light came on and stayed on. I was able to drive it but it drove rough and jumpy. I will have to check it out later today. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate them.

I seem to have the same problem with a 97 Model
Lossing coolant, funny smell, running rough, how much is a heater core?

Last year I replaced the entire dual-range heater controls due to a fan switch being inoperable to the tune of $700.00 at the dealer. The switch is fine, now I don't have any heat. I just replaced the thermostat and topped off the coolant and still no heat. I have heard it could be a "stuck" flap or director in the heater assembly. Any help will greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You started the Jeep, heard a "pop", the check engine light came on and now it's running rough??? You probably have a blown head gasket.

Our 2001 JGC Laredo has 119,000 highway miles and had so many problems including the "shaking" at 24K miles (now a class action lawsuit). The "low coolant" light came on, we've put coolant almost every other day, no leak observed, did not have any burning smoke either. The Jeep dealer said cylinder head #3 is bad, they replaced cylinder head, gasket, oil change, new coolant, spark plugs and thermostat for $1,900 (they kept the Jeep for 1 week). The day we got the Jeep bank, the "engine light" came on, brought it back to the dealer that same night, the dealer could not find the problem and just reset the code. 2 days later, engine light came on again and we returned the Jeep, now dealer says it is the catalytic converter which was contaminated with the coolant/oil mixture. Another $1,100. We have 4 cars ad keep tabs of all maintenance & repairs (Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Jeep GC Laredo) and I can say this Jeep is the worst of all. Needless to say, my family ( and kids) will never buy any Jeep again!

It not the thermostat, or pump, Its the coolent level sensor in the overflow/resovor, should read 3300k ohms, the plug that goes into the back of the screen, under the radio, controls, has a picture of the viechal, tells when a door is open ect... the #1 terminal goes to the coolent level sensor, try cleaning the connector, that usually fixes it, if not sheck the wires. If it;s a light on dash...same.....

I have been looking at a cold air intake system for my 2005 JGC 5.7. I have seen a few versions. What I am looking for is some testimonials and or complaints. Do they really give you more HP, and do they help with Gas Mileage??? What about dry vs. oiled??? Thanks for any input you may have, I greatly appreciate it.

I put the K&N system on my 07 HEMI. It did add about .5 MPG but also made the intake very loud under throttle. I also switched to full synthetic oil and that added about 1 mpg. As for wet vs. dry filters, I have used K&N's wet filters on every vehicle I have owned for the last 10 years or so. You RARELY have to clean them and I have always got at least a little bump in power and mileage.
