First Drive: 2008 Chevrolet Corvette - It seems like only moments ago when the Corvette C6 was introduced — a new, leaned-down package filled to the brim with the latest high-performance technology developed by the small group of Vette-dedicated engineers. (more)

Full Test: 2008 Chevrolet Corvette - Part of the secret of excellent performance lies in our test car's horsepower and torque figures. The standard Vette is available with an optional two-mode exhaust system that premiered on the current-generation Z06. The 2.5-inch-diameter exhaust has two outlet valves (one for each side of the exhaust system). (more)

Yes, I feel they could make a better corvette. Let's start with the LS3. 30HP is not much of an increase. We all know that 30 HP increase is not the true output. There is much fugging there. If they are going to step up at least move the HP to around 450HP. I know if they had as much HP close to the Z06 then what the use of the Z06.
I also own a C6 and wanted the HP and warranty since mine is ending in 2009
The interior needs an upgrade but we can't have everything.
Cosemtic wise, MOre flairs I say.

I just bought an LS3 with the dual mode exhaust a month ago. I had it tuned on a chassis dyno a week after I bought it.
With the dual mode exhaust it pulled 390hp on the dyno, stock.
According to the dyno tech, the exhaust seems to be worth 10 hp at the wheels.
The sound when the extra pipes are open is simply awesome, and the car is nice and quiet cruising with them closed.
Giving 15% for drivetrain loss, the car is closer to 450hp at the crank.
I left the shop with 400hp to the wheels. Should be 460 or so figuring for drivetrain losses.

Alright, my bad I didn’t realize that the 0 to 60 was with a one foot roll out, but you can diffidently find a 2010 Camaro SS in the low 30,000’s on Edmunds, the only way its over 40k is if you get it fully loaded. It still has over a hundred horsepower over the GT, and has a faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile, so the weight can’t be killing it that much. You can also find a 08 corvette for less than 40K with fewer than 10,000 miles on it. Edmunds tests say it can run a 0 to 60 4.5, and a ¼ mile of 12.8, just as quick as the Mustang GT500 for a littl less money.
