Cavalier gas smell by georgecavalier

I have a 2001 Z24 and sometimes when I have the heater and/or fan running I can smell gas especially when at idle. I know it's not a gas leak because I checked and I'm getting the normal mileage that you should get with the 2.4. I'm not sure if having the heater/fan on is a coincidence or not but that's the only time I smell it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Check the injectors, they have been known to leak externally.

I have a 96 Sunfire with the 2.4 engine and had the same problem at about 100,000 miles. It turned out to be a pressure regulator located at the (passenger side) end of of the fuel rail. I bought a new one for about $70 at Advance Auto parts and the car now has 166,000 miles with no more fuel smell.
