Yeah if you found a decent CAI you might get up to 3-8HP for $200/$300.

If you can get a larger throttle body plate that might give you 5 HP for $300---if you can find one for your car---might be tough.

An exhaust header pipe would give you maybe 2HP, or 3 HP.

A free flow muffler (cat-back) might give you 1 or 2 HP.

That's about it for the "cheap" stuff...figure 10 to 20 HP for $1,000. That's not too bad.

Otherwise you need to pretty much start taking apart the engine and spending lots of $$. At that point with a car like yours, you might consider just investing in a faster car, because your 3000 has a big weight problem, which is a tough issue to solve.

#41 of 56 Tranny in "Limp-in mode" HELP! by slickness

Mar 29, 2006 (1:36 pm)

Hi everyone, I have to 3000GT SL automatic. Everything is generally running fine, but the automatic transmission is in bad shape. I just recently bought a used japanese tranny and got it professionally installed. But even after they put the 2 sensors in the correct place, the tranny is still in limp mode. Which means it doesnt shift at all, and its always on 3rd gear.
I need help to figure out the wiring for 3 wires (coming out of the tranny). Its a for a sensor, and the 3 lines were cut. So I need to know which goes where because the colors don't match. Its black, green/yellow, and green/black. The new colors are black, green, blue.
Can someone help me?
If you can compare the colors and the order of the lines coming from the tranny (left to right).

#46 of 56 Want better throttle response 3000gt base by shaggy3000gt

Apr 11, 2007 (8:25 am)

I have a 96 3000GT with a strong engine and new trans but would like to get a little better throttle response/initial acceleration. Are there any easy relatively inexpensive modifications that could accomplish this? K&N filter?, cold air induction, cat back exhaust etc. Will any of these make any noticeable changes? Thanks
