I just bought a 2007 RAV4 Sport Flint Mica V6 4x2 yesterday in Stockton, CA. They had the 2008 RAV4 brochures there. I couldn't find anything different in it... and even if there was, it would have been very minor.

I plan to purchase a new 2008 vehicle. Right now I am trying to decide between the Hyundai Santa Fe, Nissan Rogue and the Rav4. I know the St.Fe is a midsize verus a compact.
I like the mpg of the Rav4 but I am not sure about the rear door that opens to the left. Can anybody tell me how it works for you? Is it really as bad as some people say it is?
Toyota's are good reliable cars. I am not sure about the reliability of Hyundai but they have come a long way. The Rogue is nice but is the first year of the car and I am hesitant about buying the first year those cars always have bugs. Any information would be helpful. thanks.

I sat in all three.

Santa Fe is huge and relatively luxurious. Rav4 feels a bit smaller (compact) but it is a Toyota like you say, however, in Canada, it is tremendously overpriced. Finally the Rogue is TINY, similar to a Tucson, fells like a large car, no more and has a smaller engine. Have you ckecked the Outlander?

Yeah my husband didn't like the outlander. He thought it was a bit small/tight and he didn't like the roof material.
He didn't like the overall look.
What do you know about the reliability of the Hyundai Santa Fe? We keep our cars for at least ten years.
It is looking more and more like the Santa Fe is our car. My husband is 6'1" so we have to get something that is spacious and comfortable.
Thanks for the info.

Check on the MPG for the Santa Fe. I've heard they aren't getting the best MPG. I like asking people that show up with the vehicle I'm considering at the gas stations when I'm filling up, what they get for mileage. Most are pretty honest.

I went to see a RAV4 yesterday. I looked at the 2007 limited model. I liked everything about it except for the rear door. What I really like about it is the prospect of getting at least 25 mpg.
How bad is the rear door? How inconvenient is it? Can anybody tell me.
If I do buy the RAV4 I would like the 2008 model.

Are there vents for 2nd and 3rd rows in any 2007 or 2008 Raw4 models? I couldn't see any in a 2007 model. If there is really none, isn’t it uncomfortable for back seat passengers? Please share your experiences. Thanks.

I'm 6'1" and my wife is 5'10" and we both prefer the side swing rear door to a lift. Beats having to duck every time you go to put something back there. This was really tested a couple of years ago when we rented an 05 Rav4 while on vacation. Loading and unloading luggage was a breeze. We fell in love with that thing. I just drove an 07 the other day and I was impressed with the head room. No sun roof installed, so that makes a difference. Hard to get the desired color and features on an 07 now, so will probably order an 08.

I picked up a 2008 brochure in Colorado Springs on Friday. No vehicles and the sales person either didn't know when they would be available or felt challenged to sell me one of his remaining '07s. Does anyone have a firm date yet as to when the '08s will go on sale?
