bhoppyk, Just registered with Edmunds. I have a 2008 Acadia and the same leakage as you describe happened to me....not only this, but in February I had the 50,000 mile checkkup....immediately after that, one week, the battery went dead....jumpped it and drove for 20 minutes...check engine light came on and msg: engine hot....turned out that the battery was dead and needed to be replaced, not under warrenty plus the water pump had been leaking....a week later, the engine light comes on again and the engine would not shift out of 1st gear....turned out to be the upper valve unit had to be replaced....seems GMC doesn't make the part any longer and fortunately, maybe not, they found the only one left in the USofA!! all covered by warrenty....then not even a week later, the check engine light comes on again, msg: engine hot, engine keeps running after turning off the key, and low and behold the darn radio turned on by itself and you know the rest of the story.....leakage from my sun roof into the fuse box assembly.......what a night mare.....i'm thinking I should call the lemmon car agency and see if I can get a new car!!!!!
#1035 of 2084 Throttle or gas pedal sticking?

2008 All-Wheel Drive Acadia 50,000 miles. I was preparing to pass a vehicle and my vehicle began to accelerate unaided. It was either a stuck gas pedal (don't think it was this), or transmission. The cruise control was "ON" but I had not engaged it. I turned off the cruise first - no reaction - then stepped on the brakes - then slammed on the brakes hard to finally get it to stop accelerating. I almost rear-ended the truck in front of me. I finished my trip very carefully without using cruise again. Anyone had a similar experience?

I purchased my 2011 Acadia on Feb. 14, 2011. It was towed to the dealership on March 14, 2011. My transmisson went out while waiting in line at a drive threw window during my lunch break. It started making a rattling noise. My vehicle did not want to go forward. We turned it off and then turned it back on and it started working again. My husband parked it to check the transmisson fluid and it was good. When he got back in he put it in reverse to back up and nothing would happen. He had to get out of the vehicle and push it to get me out of the parking lot. Then we put it in drive and drove back to where I work. I couldn't go faster then 10 mph and the vehicle was straining to get there. Thank God I was just down the road from where I work. We called the dealership and they sent a tow truck. It's still in the shop waiting for a new transmission. They said there was a problem with the transmissions and all the 2011 models had been fixed and taken care of on the line. Apparently they forgot to fix mine. They told me the big guys from GM flew down to Louisiana to see what happen to my Acadia because they were shocked that something like that had happened. Yeah right?? Whatever! Now its in the shop and I haven't even paid my first note yet. Needless to say I am VERY VERY disappointed with GM. But what can I do??

Just read your post and know your pain. My 2007 Acadia had transmission problems at about 50,000 miles. It was in the shop for 60 out of 180 days. Four different situations with the transmission. Each time they "fixed" one thing and then another problem would occur. In January, GM told me it was "really fixed" and we could either drive it or buy a new one(they certainly were offering us a deal"). Too old for the lemon law. Be careful--are they really giving you a new transmission or just trying to repair the one that is in there. Protocol, according to the service manage at the dealership that we worked with, is to fix not replace. Needless to say, we got rid of ours as we didn't feel safe with so many transmission issues.

I emailed GMC about the popping in my 2011 Acadia, after two weeks and 4 calls talking to reps. The GMC rep called this morning and said there was nothing they could do. I asked them if they know this is going to be a problem, why don't they put a disclaimer on the cars since they have known about this problem for years and of course I got the standard answer: Thank you for calling GMC........ When someone rides with me and they heard the popping I get "What's that"so it is not good advertising for GMC. Other makers of vehicals have ABS modules and don't have this noise problem.

Not sure if you had it taken care of by now, I had that problem with my Aciadafrom the day I bought it. It took about a year to finally fix that problem.

Get out of that car. I have a 2007 Acaida, bought new, waited 6 weeks for it. It leaked everywhere inside about two weeks ago, rain shorted out my radio. I have spent $1,000 to fix both problems and my Acaida is back at the dealer with more problems!!

My acadia has shut down while driving three times. I have called GMC about it and they have been great dealing with me on the phone. They have suggested I take my car in for inspection and investigation as to why. Unfortunately it's a phantom thing. There is no trace of what has happened. You'd think the computer would show something. Nothing.
When we first took my car in for investigation, they put a "Flight Recorder" in my car. What this does is, it records all the information the car gives while driving. If in case it shut down, then it would record it. Unfortunately, it didn't shut down. This made me feel like an idiot.
While driving on the freeway (highway) to the airport my car shut down and steering was tough and I had to pull on the side of the highway. Mind you I have two little kids in the back and thankfully the car starts up again after I'm able to safely park it.
If I were to pull out into the street and my car decides to stall and another car or Semi truck comes along, we'd probably be hit pretty bad or be killed. THIS IS A BIG ISSUE. If by chance we get into an accident caused by this stall there is NOTHING that shows it was the cars stalling. My car is also a 2008 and I've only had it for 3 years. The dealership and GMC have been great on the phone and in person to deal with, BUT the problem still lies there and I'm hoping something happens to fix it or possibly change everything in the car. Otherwise I'll have to get another car that I can't afford and I've almost paid off my car.
