We have a Freestyle with the rear buckets and center console. We love this configuration because it separates our 3 and 6 year olds enough that they don't get into too much trouble in the back. The console is also the perfect place to store the DVDs that are used in our overhead DVD player. I would highly recommend the buckets unless you absolutely have to seat 7. Access to the third row with the buckets is very easy as they flip forward and out of the way. We've seated adults in the third row and they've had no trouble getting back there with the 2nd row bucket tipped forward. - Chad

Mark, you have a good point. I'm sure we'll be thrilled with whatever configuration we get and maybe I am being a little picky. The type of 2nd row is by no means a deal breaker. That said, I think I prefer the bucket seats with the console. That way, I can remove the console if it gets in the way. We very rarely would need to seat 7 and the added storage of the console and the armrests it provides is a plus. Just curious, does the 2nd row bench have a center armrest that folds down like my parent's Expedition and the new Edge? If so, this point may be moot. Still, good to hear what everyone prefers. |

The 3 year old is in a car seat that is bolted down with the latch system so we don't flip that side. The 6 year old sits on a booster that isn't attached to anything so that seat will still flip forward even with the booster in the seat. In a year or two once the 3 year old is also in a booster both sides will be able to flip. If you do have two very young children in latch seats it would pose a problem to have them both in the buckets if you need access to the third row, but you could have one in a center bucket and the other in the third row. Boosters work fine in all seats. This has never been a problem for us and we really love our center bucket seats. The biggest benefit to the center buckets is each child has their own space so they don't fight as much. - Chad

The new Nissan Quest 2nd row seats release and swivle forward for 3 rd access without haveing to fold the seat back flat. This way you don't have to remove a child seat. Mark. |

The question is probably whether the mounting brackets on the floor are the same whether it's captain's or bench.

Has anyone tried fitting a infant car seat and a booster on either sides and then seating a adult in the 2nd row bench in the freestyle? Is there enough space for a adult in the middle with two car seats on the sides? I have a four and half yr old and expecting a second one soon, I also have my mother-in-law staying with us. Right now, we have a 2000 Xterra and a 2004 Mazda6 wagon, don't think with 2 car seats an adult can fit in the middle. Even with 3 rows of seating, I would like to have the option to be able to sit in between the 2 car seats. I think a 8-passenger Sienna might work well for me, but not very interested in buying a minivan. So looking for other options. Please let me know what you all think. Thanks, GK
