since the last time I had time to post anything here. Work consumed all my time.
GM is finally on ch-11, wow... big "surprise"...
Quoting Will Smith: Somehow "I told you so" just doesn't quite say it anymore.

yep, I'm in the same boat you are as far as rock goes. Pound-pound-pound the punching bag! Come back rockylee!
Of course, as gagrice says, he is part of our Edmunds "family" by now, and for those newbies out there on Edmunds, you'll know when you're part of the Edmunds "family." I don't want anything bad to occur to that boy, he's fae-ma-ly. Some women(and even some men)seem to give it a faaa-mmee-muuull--llyyy twang to it, if you happen to catch my drift!
I spose 1,000 posts or more is a good starting point to try and guage that by.

What do you do, drive 50 miles per month? Go back and recheck your numbers. you are shooting your own credibility to zero with such nonsense. With that logic i could say my wife's CTS costs $15/ month in running costs, and my Eldorado is costing under $10, but it cos't more than that for her to pick up her niece and nephew for an afternoon.

By "running costs" he probably means maintenance/repairs. Not including gasoline, registration fees, insurance, loan payments, etc.

I've read enough of Roadburner's posts to know that Andre's interpretation is correct: Roadburner's numbers don't include fuel costs.
Remember that Roadburner was replying to Lemko's assertion that every German car is hours away from a breakdown that will bankrupt its owner.

Just for kicks, I ran the math on my '76 LeMans, which is the car I'm driving today. I figure "running costs" have come out to a whopping $15.81 per month. Of course, that's a bit deceptive since I don't drive it much. I've had it over 4 years now, and have only put around 3400 miles on it. I'm sure if I drove it all the time, it would require more. In contrast, "running costs" for my 2000 Intrepid have come out to around $73 per month. Which, over the course of almost 10 years, and 147,000 miles, ain't too bad I guess. Blowing up my a/c compressor earlier this year sure didn't help things much!

UAW after the BK

Has this thread died??
Anyway - Am I the one who's outraged that GM emerged from BK with the UAW holding a contract that maintains the same wages/benefits for all existing employees?
What a joke! Concessions were for retirees/new hires only! This time next year GM will need another $50 billion to survive though we the sheeple may not hear about it. It's a recipe for failure and incredible beyond belief.
TARP will have to fund GM for the next 2-3 years at a minimum.

I think the Obama auto juggernaut has pulled a quick one on the UAW. Look at the jobs being lost in Michigan since the government took over GM & C. Those now running the GM show know that the UAW is a big stumbling block to being viable. They are going to shift the work to non UAW suppliers and offshore most of the small cars they are pushing for. Everyone is touting the G8/Caprice. How is it any better for the UAW than a Chinese Buick? Neither one creates a job in the USA.
Have any of the UAW shops re-opened since the big shut down? The only gotta have GM is the Camaro and it is built in Canada, by the much more pragmatic CAW Union.
