"This bankruptcy is terrible," said Matt Whales, a spokesman for the UAW local in Fremont. "But it's too early to tell right now how this will affect NUMMI." That same sort of uncertainty was expressed by NUMMI spokesman Lance Tomasu, who said it's unclear how GM's bankruptcy will affect the factory." "Attorneys have to be led every step of the way. Sorry Bob that has been my experience as well"...that depends on the legal matter involved, I would think...many of my Chapter 7 clients do not understand what the forms require and how bankruptcy works...OTOH, there is that percentage of folks who go pro se and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, whereas an attorney may have been of some help...especially in reaffirming (keeping) a debt, like a car or a home...if Ch 7 is done w/o an attorney, then they must show up in front of the Judge to prove they can afford what they want to keep...when done by an atty, the atty can certify whether they can afford it and save the hearing with the Judge, as most folks do NOT like appearing in front of the Judge for a 2nd hearing after the Creditors meeting... Speaking of Creditors Meeting, I wonder how many will show up for GM's hearing...1 or 2, or hundreds or even thousands??? Sorry rocky, we have our rednecks, no doubt, but after 10 years with UAW people, you need to look in the mirror, because most UAW folks can barely make a "X" on a signature form...it was like that in the 80s, and you can be sure that the UAW, with no standards to begin with, surely did not raise them after I left Detroit... For all you insults about Southern rednecks, I can absolutely assure you that you are surrounded by the same ignorant, toothless idiots, except yours talk without the Soutern accent...insult us all you want, but you know as well as I do that your beloved union is a magnet for the illiterate...I know this for a fact...you can fool those here who do not know Detroit, but living on Telegraph Road at Six Mile taught me just how ignorant they are...and believe me, considering the lemming behavior of the entire UAW, I am surprised that you can insult the South so much and not look at the UAW people who surrounded you when you grew up...it ain't pretty...
