WOW!!! As I said I along with your average UAW worker will gladly take a IQ test against your average imbred Georgian, Bob. Your state knows how to do what exactly grow peaches? Unbelievable!!! It wasn't long ago Georgia, was lined with trailer house after trailer house along those clay roads and because ARM's allowed people to move from trailers to houses thus you are going to trash my state and the UAW because your beloved politicans in that corner of the U.S. are treasonist and embrace free trade which killed U.S. manufacturing? You claim to buy american to support jobs yet all your rhetoric tells a different story. I don't get you!!!!

Today marked the end of the Big 3. After $150 billion more dollars are thrown down the GM/Chrysler rathole, the U.S. auto industry will sink like a lead ballon in 2011.

Had Ford been allowed to compete on a level playing field, they would survive and prosper in recovery (in 2012). Our economy is 2 years away from recovery and this Gov't owned BK only buys time - it will not work and everyone should plainly see that.

In 2011 when things are a bit better economically, the plug will be pulled and the whole house of cards will come down. Obama knows the truth, he doesn't want you to know it just yet though.

I am asking the same question myself about what car to buy....I like the Ford Fusion, built in Mexico, and the Toyota Camry, built in the US...I'm leaning toward the Camry because this country needs good jobs for its people...

I'm the same way. I liked the Fusion from the get-go, although I was disappointed that the 4-cyl version was kind of substandard in both power and economy, as if they were trying to force you into the V-6 model. For the price though, it still seemed like a good car, but the Mexico-built aspect always did bother me. Guess I am being hypocritical though, since my 2000 Intrepid came from Canada! And if I had the income to dispose of, I'd consider a G8, built with pride in Australia, mate.

So is the 2010 Fusion still Mexican built?

Why don't you both get a real car and buy an american made Chevy Malibu? I can lead you to the watering hole at your local chevy store or you can fly to Michigan and get the VIP treatment from Beth who sold 2 more today which put her grand total at 16 out and made her #1 for the 3rd straight month.

So how long do you guys think it will take GM to get through BK?

GM will be out of BK court by August 15th, 2009. They will have no chance to break even financially before 2012. I believe GM as we know it will not exist 2 years from today.

Chevy and Cadillac will survive in one form or another. Possibly owned by Ford or Toyota.

Georgia, was lined with trailer house after trailer house

I think if you have a library in GR you will find that Georgia was settled and civilized long before anyone but savages roamed Michigan. Georgia was a state for 50 years before Michigan was admitted. Just reading the new 1776 by McCullough, it mentions time and again how George Washington considered the Yankees and New England volunteers as uneducated, uncivilized and undisciplined. Most of the southern states were admitted long before Michigan.

Georgia was the 4th state admitted less than one month after the first 3 states. Rocky I would never admit I was out witted by a TX attorney. As our old Teamster boss told me, Attorneys have to be led every step of the way. Sorry Bob that has been my experience as well. I have a couple attorney friends I debate politics and theology with. I would not be afraid to debate either with the pick of the UAW crop. Send them over to this thread and we will have a go.

i read people on this board say buying imported goods doesnt matter and yet i also read pat buchanan and some economists say it does...it seems pretty simple to me, our trade deficit is too big, we have lost too many decent jobs and our govt is trillions in debt...china on other hand is has billions in reserves and and is the top mfg country in world like we used to be...and i really dont think we will get out of this recession anytime soon, usa will slip even more in years ahead...to me we have just been living off our past kind of like GM
