Replying to: aelanna (Apr 15, 2007 5:33 am) Mine is an AT, and I'm averaging 33mpg overall, with 3500 miles on the car so far. I've only had it for a couple months, but I love it. Fortunately I live in an area (Detroit) where it doesn't seem to be quite as difficult to find one - then again, I haven't tried looking for a MT. Good luck with your search!

At this point I'm just waiting for an MT to test drive, and a few paychecks for the down payment.

Look through autotrader.com and see what you find there. You want the exact car that I have. I absolutely love it. If someone close to you has an MT available for 19,000, you could always take it for a test drive and say no thanks to anything over MSRP. I know the honda dealer guy might think that is wasting the mans time, but, it is wasting the consumers time to seriously consider 19,000. |

You are the consumer, never settle for less than what you want and never for more than you want to pay. They have to make YOU happy if they want your business. Every dealer will try to sell you whatever he's got on the lot if he doesn't have what you want, just to make the sale and not lose it to someone else. I finally found an MT to test drive while on a business trip to Richmond. It was an orange one, which I told the guy up front I had no intention of buying, I drove it, loved it, and the guy tried to sell it to me anyway. Well, for the $20,000 he wanted I wouldn't have bought it if it WAS the car I wanted! My best price came in from Nelson Honda in Martinsville, of $15,765 plus free delivery to my door. When I have the money, I'll be calling them and see if I can shave a few bucks more off. |

He kept me informed about what was in stock all the time, and were willing to sell for MSRP. I didn't try to negotiate with them, so I'm not sure if they would have gone any lower or not. There's not much bargaining power with the Fit, because the supplies are so low. Your best bet is to contact lots of places by phone or internet and see what the best price they'll give you is. It's possible to get a fairly decent price...just takes a lot of work. Good luck - let us know how things work out!
