$14,650 is the MSRP for the base AT. May be this price includes the destination/docking fee of $600.

In general, I am guessing that most of people are paying over MSRP now, at least in Pacific NW. It seems that people are paying $1000 and up easily.

I looked into that, but none of the dealers in our area are participating with Sams. I'd have to buy a Chevy (yuck).

Yes. Doc and transportation fees are included. BTW the dealer made a hard run at getting me to "upgrade" to the Civic. I suspect the Fit is what car sales people call a "money" car because of the premium above invoice and they lost it on this one.

The Aveo has the worst reviews of any subcompact. The Hyundai Accent gets good reviews and sells at $500 below invoice through Sams. The Ford Focus also gets better reviews but no subcompact comes close to the Fit according to every review I read, including Edmunds, Consumers Reports and Car and Driver.

Fit Sport in the Bay Area (California) by yenching

Just got off the phone with a couple of dealerships in the Bay Area. Prices are above the MSRP prices for the Honda Fit Sport AT.

Here is what I got from email quotes and voice quotes (This includes only Destination Fee and no other taxes or fees):

El Cerrito Honda - $17,065 (Mid June)
Grace Honda - None in stock and no date or time of stock information.
Mike Harvey - $17,345 (Mid June)
Autowest Honda Roseville - $17,065 (Unknown stock date)
Vacaville Honda - $16,565 + (Plus $595 for "Touch of Class" Sealant package, Floor Mats- $153, Cargo Tray- $109.80, and Wheel Locks- $75.60 (All Accessories and Sealants are not optional) in options that cannot be removed. Also car is Out of Stock. This is via a Costco dealership. (Very disappointed)
SF Honda - None in stock and no date or time of stock information.
________________________________________________________
San Leandro Honda - $16,565 MSRP (Coming in Mid to End of June). Placed a $300 (yes $300 deposit, everywhere else was asking for $500 deposit).

The rep said that there is a Silver one on the boat already that is coming in early June, but someone already had a deposit on it. She said another Silver Sport AT that is coming in mid or end of June is available for a deposit. So there goes my $300

Also the weird thing is that Vacaville Honda said they are under the same company as San Leandro Honda. I told Vacaville that I would not pay for the Options that are mandatory ($595 for "Touch of Class" Sealant package, Floor Mats- $153, Cargo Tray- $109.80, and Wheel Locks- $75.60 (All Accessories and Sealants are not optional). The Vacaville guy said that these options are laid out by the corporate company and they cannot be removed. I just told him I pass. Oh and they did not have the car in stock either. Interesting how you can add the options in when the car is not there.

I test drove a Focus but wasn't very impressed with it. It also had the worst gas mileage estimates of anything I looked at.

If the Civic came in a hatchback, I'd be interested. But since it doesn't, I'll stick to the Fit.

I think putting down your "deposit" won't guarantee a Fit, until you actually see your invoice with a VIN (or some written agreement).

My story: At Wilsonville Honda, in OR, I was supposed to be on the first of the list for Red Fit, destined to arrive towards the end of May. Their sales point: No mark-ups, no dealer-added options, and hassle-free MSRP price tag. I gave my credit card info so that they could charge $500 in order to "hold" the car for me. After a week or so, I realized that the credit card was not charged. Also they did not send me an email confirming the sales agreement which I had asked for. About 10 days before the "expected delivery date (end of May)" I called them up to see how things are rolling. They b.s.'ed and told me that I was now at the bottom of the list. My guess is that the dealer found out that high numbers of people are willing to pay over MSRP and decided to sell it to others with more $$.

As I said, I would not consider your Fit a secure until you get some written agreement or invoice of your deposit payment towards this vehicle. I finally got mine "locked" with a VIN # for $500 over MSRP $16275 (sports MT). This price, I believe is fair for me, considering the fact that all of the dealers in OR and WA area are charging $1000 and up. Some are calling for $18k. Well, I still have to drive 2hours to pick up my Fit over the weekend though.

Very true. The deposit won't guarantee a Fit, but its a start. I will see if the VIN comes through *cross fingers* and keep everyone updated. I would like a FIT by the end of June, but who knows.

I would be okay with a $17k on a Honda Fit Sport AT, but unfortunately none of the dealers had the car in Silver or had no Fits at all. Oh wells.

I'm still questing for a Fit, so we'll see.

Opportunity to buy used 07 fit for $10,800. Std, all black, for son who will probably get college paid for via scholarships. 10,000 miles, perfunctory look indicates in great shape, gonna test drive in hour. If car checks out (I have checklists galore and bro-in-law mechanic to look over) does price seem reasonable? South LA so the black does not interest me but son is kinda OCD and will not accept anything else... Waddya think?
