I ended up buying from Tamaroff Honda in Southfield. I wasn't thrilled with their customer service, but I got what I felt was a fair price. I went through their internet department first, and when their internet person contacted me, they quoted me a price $300 below MSRp right over the phone. I'm not sure if I would have gotten that if I'd just gone in without having inquired on their website first.
You might also want to try LaFontaine Honda in Dearborn. I also inquired through their web site, and the person that responded was very nice. He kept me informed about what was in stock all the time, and were willing to sell for MSRP. I didn't try to negotiate with them, so I'm not sure if they would have gone any lower or not.
There's not much bargaining power with the Fit, because the supplies are so low. Your best bet is to contact lots of places by phone or internet and see what the best price they'll give you is. It's possible to get a fairly decent price...just takes a lot of work. Good luck - let us know how things work out!

I went to suburban honda and acura in Novi and they gave me a OTD price of 16,940 or something as opposed to Fisher's 17,300. I went in telling them I had put a deposit down for the fit for 17,300 and if they could beat it. Is the 16,940 a good deal? Should I go for it?
It's a sport MT. Thanks.

It's worth the work to shop around, especially online. The lowest price I got quoted was $15,765 on the Sport MT.

He told me no other fees and he would deliver the car to my door (2 hours drive away) for no extra charge.
When I'm ready to buy, that's where I'm going.

Do it. Great car!
I plan to beat the 40 mpg mark by the middle of summer.

Try going through Costco or Sams Club. Dealers who sign with them have to comply with agreed pricing. I just bought the Base with AT for $15,250 plus tax and license. It will be delivered in about three weeks.

$14,650 is the MSRP for the base AT. May be this price includes the destination/docking fee of $600.
In general, I am guessing that most of people are paying over MSRP now, at least in Pacific NW. It seems that people are paying $1000 and up easily.

I looked into that, but none of the dealers in our area are participating with Sams. I'd have to buy a Chevy (yuck).

Yes. Doc and transportation fees are included. BTW the dealer made a hard run at getting me to "upgrade" to the Civic. I suspect the Fit is what car sales people call a "money" car because of the premium above invoice and they lost it on this one.
