Well its June 25th 2008 and my wife is out with tech's from Ford of Dalton, Georgia, with our 3 horse living quarters, about 16,000lbs and 38 feet long. We buck on acceleration and braking, we take the tow haul mode out and its fine for some weeks then returns - If we could only afford the 2009 DODGE line up we would be fine - We did get the computer reflashed at Ford of Ashville on an Endurance ride but that didn't last long, what a terrible waste of money, nice truck shame about the transmission etc. 2008 F450. Gas mileage comes with the what you've got.

Thanks for the update....I'm still researching my next truck and like you, I have horses and a fifth wheel to tow. Right now I'm lending towards the Ram 4500 4x4 Quad and the beauty of it is ...I just learned that you can get a 3.73 (optional) rear axle ratio so it's going to get way better MPG than a Topkick/Kodiak and comes with an exhaust brake standard. They claim 20 MPG overall, I suspect that will drop to around 10-14 maybe when twoing...in any case way better than the Ford 450 will ever get.

My wife just called to say the techs may be able to disconnect the tow haul command and install a stand alone device ( the old kind) however if it works all well and good but if not, we are going to drop a bundle on the trade in, nobody wants a diesel - i.e we wanted to get a 8 seater for the grand parents (us), our trade in value for the 2006 Dodge 3500 Laramie blue book $25,000.00 we were offered $15,000 to $18,000.00 at best - So if we were lucky enough to get a new Dodge 09 top of the line dually, we are so far out of the money, nobody wants the 08 Ford 450. I'm English so I guess its sucks (large) !!!!

Not to be too blinkered, but my wifes love is endurance riding (horses) so its all about the truck pulling the trailer - The nightmare is the F450 we just can't have the bloody truck bucking with horses inside under any circumstances, what ever the discipline. So who out there knows the problem but yet can solve the problem or do we just dump the Ford and never look back, take the monster financial hit and move on - So all the readers understand its not what we can financially afford but its a lifestyle that gives great enjoyment to young and old and we must support the sport - Sadly Ford doesn't at this time support or want to get involved to help those that bought their product to have it fail so miserably - Or yet repair without question those trusting enough to support them.
