I'm just like the rest of you, I have too many problems I bought my 450 February of 2007 and after it being in the shop for 85 days for the same issues each time (lack of power, oil leaks, ac and on and on) I successfully lemoned my truck (december of 2007). The truck weighs less than 10,000 pounds (curb weight is on the inside of the drivers door) as long as there is no aftermarket additions. You must go and re-register your truck for less than 10,000 pounds, this is legal, (mine was at 9,990 pounds) and meet the rest of the conditions to lemon (take the truck to a truck stop and have it weighed with you in it to verify udner 10,000 pounds). If you have installed aftermarkets (extra fuel tanks, 5th wheels, etc) then you can't lemon the truck, even if you remove them they will see the signs of the installation. We lemoned the truck WITHOUT the help of an attorney. Litigation is now pending with Ford regarding lost revenue due to the trucks defects. We will not step down or stop our fight until Ford "owes" up to a truck that CANNOT do the job and almost destroyed my business as a result. I don't care if Ford is a huge company or not they need to be held accountable for their actions! Now, Ford will understand my BOLD MOVE. I said it before THIS TRUCK IS ALL SHOW - NO TOW!

Keep us posted on you case, I haven't been running my truck because I just don't trust it, and putting a blow-off valve in the system to compensate for bad design is just stupid.
If I get stuck one more time, someone's going to get there ass kicked, Hear That Rich Boy...........

I am a marine transporter (I haul boats for people), loss of power is on takeoff. I purchased this vehicle because my 1999 had over 500,000 miles on it (F350) and I went back to Ford because of my current vehicle and the F450 advertising.

Loss of power is on takeoff.

thedemoguy, you should not have to do anything to this truck, there have been recalls for this as well as many other problems with this vehicle, it is simply a fact of poor design and the refusal of the manufacturers to correct this design flaw and compensate people for their loss of business.

My truck has been parked since December 2007 and I am still carrying tags and insurance on a vehicle that CAN NOT DO THE JOB! It is costing me a fortune but I refuse to give Ford my money and my business because of their EXTREMELY POOR engineering. At this point the payment I am making to my attorney is the same amount that I would be making the truck payment for. It is not that I cannot afford the truck as Ford states, it is the fact that the truck is a LEMON and I will not be forced to "roll over" for these people. I have lost a lot of business because my dealers and private customers that I spent years cultivating now refuse to give me their business because they know my F450 was constantly in the repair shop or broken down on the road!

My F350 has a saying on the back . . ."Just Holding My Own" that is what we are doing, my 350 is still going for the smaller boats with a huge cost to me because of the loss of the bigger boat hauls. I WILL NOT GIVE UP THE FIGHT UNTIL FORD ADMITS THE DESIGN FLAWS AND COMPENSATES ME FOR THE COSTS ASSOCIATED THE TRUCK AND MY LOSS OF BUSINESS BECAUSE OF THEIR SEVERELY FLAWED F450 DESIGN.

Hello Bud;
I am in a similar situation I purchased my new "Dream Truck" in December of 2007. But my deal is a little different and I tend to disagree with much of the postings before yours... Especially the guys stating that you should cum to expect a commercial truck to only run -out at 80mpg.
 Anyways, I'll get to that a lil later.I own a excavation company and have been in business in Tucson,AZ for over 20 yrs. I have NEVER owned anything but diesel pick-up since there conception.Before that I was shoe-hornin Caterpillers in 1-ton duallys with custom bell housing adapters and browning overdrive boxes,so I feel ya. I've had over 27 new Dodges and Fords since 1988, all of them I've hot-rodded, or geared or both. I custom ordered a GMC 7500 with a 3126 Cat and a 10 speed in 1997 (a 4-door Monroe conversion over $79 for cab and chassis) this truck pulled everyday of its life 38kgross and would do it at 115mph ridin on air ,making 13mpg and empty almost 20mpg so dont let em shit ya.
 My new 2008 ford f450 4x4 4door at delivery emty saw 10.9mpg, but once the recall and flash update(replaced blown radiator RH tank) it does well getting 7.0 mpg empty and 5.4 mpg pulling a trailer with a bobcat on it.
 My 1996 Dodge dually (my baby) pulls a gooseneck with electric over hydraulic brakes carrying a caterpiller 430D closed cab backhoe (rig weighs 34,670 GCVW) gets 14mpg without propane injection and with propane on 17mpg loaded- empty the dually gets 25mpg on propane.These numbers are nowhere near that of this new piece of-----! I agree with others the ford is beutiful to look at, just not effective and I too have experienced the service engine light, over-heating and tremendous loss of power. If this is any inclination of the next 6 years payments I want out now! Although Fordspecialist.com offers the SCT programmer, DPF delete, and a new exhaust.(programmer relieves the existing govenor perimeters) and gearworks offer a ring and pinion available for the eaton 140 and Dana in the front -these are available in 3:73. Why shoould we have to loose our warranty, spend $12k more in parts just to get the new truck to run and get good mileage? Not to mention, its probably a felony now to remove the DPF.

I really feel sorry for all those people who are having problems with there F450, but I have to believe that there are F450 out there that are working fine. I just wonder how they are being used?
In any case, I spent a lot of time picking out my next truck and I decided to go with a proven truck. I didn't want to waiting around to see what GM, Ford and Dodge was going to put out as a result of the 2010 emission requirements and in hind sight, I'm glad I pulled the trigger. A regular ton dually wasn't going to do the job chassis wise for me, I decided to go with a Monroe conversion (MTE) GMC 4500 topkick, not only does it get more looks than a European Sports Car, the performance is outstanding. It has the best engine and trans combo out there, it works! Gets 10-12 pulling 16,000 Lbs. and pulls like a dream. Who knows, maybe Fiat will be the only one building diesel trucks in five years!
