Ford has a warranty report card so to speak, that the dealer gets for doing warranty work.

If they do a lot of warranty work they get a bad grade so the dealer doesn't like to do it because it makes them look bad with ford....

The first thing that tells me is ford is looking for someone to pass the blame off to or get the dealer to find a way to get out of doing the warranty work.

This is not the ford that once was, ford used to be a great company that would stand behind there trucks and cars 110% now I think they have a bunch of been counters running the show and that will be the end of ford down the line.
To bad, ford was the greatest truck money could buy and now there just another failing part of history.

Henry Ford is probably turning over in his grave.

I am a first timer on these message boards.
I also own a lemon F450. It has a problem where is stalls then won't restart. (first time was on the bay bridge with a horse trailer!!! that was fun) Now it has been towed in four times for same concern and has been down 22 days.
I have been talking with a Ford rep. She informed me the lemon law doesn't apply because the truck weights over 10,000 lbs.
Has anyone acctually had any luck or any suggestions?????

Might be true and might not but the Ford rep is the last person I would believe about anything. Check this site out: http://www.lemonlawusa.com/

I think you can also find on the web a site pertaining to a Federal Lemon Law.

Good luck. Most of our problems with our lemon 450 have turned out to be electrical. The first really bad one was some cable that runs behind the engine. It shorted and it took three weeks and countless tries for Ford to fix. The last problem was an electrical cable that controls the injectors. Ford replaced injector #1 three times and the computer once before they figured out it was the cable....three weeks later.

I posted before #109 of 127 by norcalcal Oct 13, 2008 (8:31 pm) so here is an update.
First, don't ever buy anything from Texas Direct Auto. After asking for a little "good will $800" the GM said over the phone that "if I wanted a new truck I should have bought a new truck and then hung up the phone" Inspected should include the windshield wipers and washers.
I left the 2008 F450 at the Ford dealer in Chico, CA and basically gave the keys to the mechanic and said "here is your new truck". Fix anything you want. He spent $1400 on non-warranty items. That was OK by me what was alarming was what he observed when we opened the hood. Clamps missing and wiring harnessess misrouted.
There is a recall to reflash the computer.
A recall on a component within the radiator. (Ford replaced my entire radiator, we will see how long that one lasts.)
The Tow/Haul switch did not work at all.
After a couple of day I received a phone call, "how did you drive this truck around? Who did all the previous work? " Is there a weasel in Ford deleting all of our service records?
What I really want to stress is this truck drove differently after the Ford tech gave it back to me. he told me "Don't let it sit and idle. Don't put your foot through the floor. There is plenty of power in the top half of the throttle. Get a engine monitor for your EGT such as an Edge Evolution."
Wait, what did you say. Chip the computer?
"Only if you want to, Ford really needs to put a EGT gauge in these things."
"Oh, if you do, take it out before I see it."
He was right, I installed a EDGE, even bought the pod for the dash installation and hauled my 18,000lb RV over the grapevine in SoCal. The truck hauled it over with no problems. Pulled my foot out of the throttle because the EGT was flashing 1300+ but was still able to hang on to 45 mph. Mileage was down to 9.5MPG Yuck!!
So, so far so good.

I get about 7mpg pulling a trailer and 8.4 just truck.
I have a semi truck and trailer 80000 gvw loaded and I get 6.5 to 7 mpg.
This truck should get over 20 mpg no trouble, and it could if they would let it but it's all a Scam...........
The Oil co. and Auto Co. are in bed together and you and I get F----d, but that will all change soon....lol
Ford,....fix my truck and give me 20 + MPG and I'll leave you alone...

ford dealers are liars they tell you the 6.4 has 350 hp but the f450 only has 325 and 600 ft pounds its right on valve cover. ford said they dee tuned them so they wouldent trash transmisions. if they put a real trans maby 10 gears the dam truck would get good milage.mine runs at 2600 rpm doing 55 .when i test drove it i was in slow speed areas.

any one ,is the 450 with 4:88 the only engine with the lower 325 hp 600 ft lbs .also reading other messeges.to answer the rear gear quiestion im pulling the same trailer with the 450 as i did with my 250 same year 2008 the 250 had 3:73 got 7 towing .14 empty the 450 gets 7 towing and10empy this all sucks but rear gears are not going to fix the fuel problem .this is a engine injection screw up and not enough gears for such a heivy truck.
