You need to read the posts more carefully or try driving an F450 with a trailer. There are REAL problems with this truck. I haul a 42' horse trailer with mine and I need to F450 capacity.
- mileage is terrible 5-6mpg. my friends with Freightliners do better.
- the IBC doesn't work with the type of brakes on most heavy trailers. You find this out AFTER buying the truck and trying to hook up.
- the reliability sucks. We have been stranded twice, with horses, on the roadside. Weeks to fix, no parts available, unable to properly diagnose the problems, followed incorrect repair procedures, Ford "Customer Service" line is useless,
- the radiator system is inadequate for the truck. It overheats then leaks, sometimes with catastrophic results.

The people I know who own 450's need that size truck. Unfortunately the F450 just doesn't cut it. I am applying under Canada's "lemon law" for compensation or to have Ford buy the truck back.

Please post Mullaly's e-mail address. Maybe we can all bombard him. See my other posts ... the F450 is a LEMON.

This is nice:

The Ford Motor Co. said Allan Mullaly, the company’s new CEO, will be getting an additional $1M bonus. The board of directors of the company has approved a $6 million stock option bonus, $1 million more than what was previously promised for Mullaly.

Ford said Mullaly’s bonus was based on his performance during the first several months of working in the company. For 2007, his total compensation package could add up to $16.5 million.

According to documents filed with Securities and Exchange Commission, Ford’s board also approved cash payments to other senior executives to compensate them for a bonus program the company is scrapping in favor of a new compensation plan.

The news about Ford’s payouts came as thousands of salaried workers who signed up for buyouts or early retirement packages bid farewells to their friends and workmates. The announcement was also close to the reporting of the 2007 $12.7 billion loss report of the automaker. "(It was a) sad day today, lots of people I knew left," one worker said. "Many of the engineering offices look like Swiss cheese with all of the empty cubicles that have opened up."

mine is a f550 with 77,000 miles. It has been in the shop for a total of four and half months. Its had 14 injectors replaced, three fuel pumps, six batteries, turbo, y-pipe, wireing harness, o-rings, multiple sensors, seals, and on and on. I have fought and fought with ford and gotten nowhere. I really need a good attorney. The service sucks bigtime, they hate to even see these trucks come in. Its been in 7 different shops for 13 times. Only once was I pulling a trailer, gooseneck with a skidsteer, not like I pull anything heavy or very often. Even if ford put a CAT engine in their trucks, I will never buy another ford again. The service is absolutely terrible and they want stand up and do what is right. Stand behind their product or buy it back. Two of the three ford dealers have shut down (all within 25 miles of my home) you would think they would see why.

If you are in the US take a look at this:http://www.fraudguides.com/lemon/federal-lemon-law.asp

There is a federal law that covers "lemons" and getting compensation.

Yours sure sounds like it qualifies.

Ford rep will not honor the warranty on our f450. EGR blew and the engine hydrolocked causing the motor to blow. From everywhere I have read that Ford is not standing behind their product. Any info would help

get a hold of your local TV station, they usually have a consumer report that flushes these people out.

F450 all the coolant leaked out and no warning light came on. The truck then had flames shooting out the tail pipe. The dealer said that b/c I missed an oil change that the oil caused the problem and is not covering the engine that they say now is blown. Oh the truck is an 08 with 20,000 miles on it. I am so pissed that ford comes up with ways to not fix the problems they knew about!!! DON'T BUY ONE OF THESE TRUCKS!!! I guess rayray I feel your pain!!!

Ford fixed my truck F450 3 weeks but got it back today, the list of parts is to long to post but every thing, short block,....and all that good stuff...
One thing I notice on the way home is a whining sound from the engine that I never heard before, If I was driving one of my big trucks I would say it was a turbo but I'm not a ford tech so what do I know,...
I'll tell them tomorrow.
All of this could be avoided with a real "radiator" and change or bypass the "EGR Cooler" or make one that works or at least blows out instead of in to the air intake...Daaa...lol
How much do the engineers make at ford...lol
These guys are ether on the take from a manufacturer or 2 or there just F---ing stupid....
