Still, the point remains: people need to make sure they test drive a Mazda6, Hyundai Sonata, and Kia Optima before they make a decision to purchase.

It was a great commercial - very funny. However, this morning when I mentioned it to the next door neighbor's kid as I was driving him and my daughter to high school I couldn't even remember the brand name of the car.
 
Such is the case with super bowl commercials - people remember the commercial but not the product. That's expensive PR.

I thought the Optima ad was pretty funny. Did a send-up of just about every action/fantasy/sci-fi movie genre in that one.
 
I saw my first 2011 Optima in its natural habitat today--a silver EX with the panoramic roof. It had the standard alloys, not the atrocious optional Vegamatic ones. There have been comments made in reviews that the Optima looks like one class above. I have to agree with that. It does look like a more expensive car... like an Audi, maybe. (wink) But the Optima is such a stealth car in the marketplace, Kia will need to do more than one Super Bowl ad to get the word out. Maybe offer a $100 test-drive coupon. That's been done before, but it might get buyers in to take a look.

the EX navi model at the car show stickered for 27.5 ish, and it was loaded, so it is a lot of car for the money.
 
Live without the navi and the fancier stereo, and about 25K sticker with just about every feature you can think of needing. Cooled front seats and heated rears?
 
actually, they had test drives set up at the auto show. Seemed kind of silly, since I think you just drove around the block in center city, so not sure what it was going to tell you!

It's comfy, roomy, mpg is decent (but not great) and it got all the bells and whistles I was looking for (streaming Pandora from the Android phone to the car is neat) and it handles like a German car. The only downer is the engine, especially after driving the Kia Optima 4 banger. I'm glad I tried a few cars to find the one that works for my needs.

Most definitely! We've owned three Toyotas and drove two of them to ~ 200,000 miles with no issues. We swore by them! Now ... after the negative publicity of the past year, I'm very hesitant. Our company has had a Camry fleet for the past few years so I asked a few of them about their experiences. One positive, one negative. We did go for a test drive, but felt the Camry LE was underpowered and very plain for the $$. Needless to say, I'm disappointed in that they're seeming to lag waaaaay behind their competition as far as style, options and comfort are concerned. They definitely can't use the slogan, "Oh, what a feeling!" anymore.

That's how I felt about the 2009 Camry Hybrid I had. After the first week I was very disappointed in what it had, and just could not figure out what made the car so highly rated. It squeaked, it rattled, the sunroof would stick, the seats were thin, the center stack lighting was way too bright and couldn't be adjusted, and was horrible when it get foggy at night, had to turn the dash lights off to be able to see.
 
I have a Fusion Sport now, and hands down it is a far better car than the Camry. With the Toyotas, after a year of driving them I was eager to get rid of them, I don't feel that way about the Fusion, and that is saying a lot.
 
Hyundai has their Hybrid out now, I checked pricing on it, and it looks like competition between the Camry and Fusion is now going to be tougher, the base price of the Sonata Hybrid is below both the Ford and the Toyota, it gets better MPG than the Camry, has a better warranty, can get up to 74 MPH on electric only, better than the Fusion, and fully loaded is up to $3k less than either the Ford or toyota. Hyundai sure slipped that one under the radar.

Well, maybe. I'd hardly call a car with a front end that looks like a largemouth bass slipping "under the radar"...
