alright, so I have a 2000 S4 right now. it is in the shop more than im driving it. ive had it for 3 years and spent $7000 on top of what i paid for it just in repairs. I was offered to trade my car for a 2004 A4 1.8t ultrasport. Im stuck in between the both of them. I love my car but am tired of all the repair jobs. If any of you have the A4 please let me know how the car is working out for you. Im leaning towards the A4 but just need a second opinion. Thanks

thats the only downfall about the b5 s4.. im in the same boat, the s4 is not very reliable but once u fix the parts which are prone to break you should be good to go.. like timing belt should have been done at 60-80k, diverter valves should be replaced with 710ns (ones out of the TT) or any aftermarket brand NOT BOVs, the stock K03 turbos are prone to fail especialy with an upgraded ecu, the stock clutch and tranny and breaks are reliable unless you race it.. once you start slaming 2nd gear you develop burrs on you syncros which causes the tranny to not properly engage... and leads to transmissions breaking.. but if you looking at it on strictly a money issue i would trade... honestly if your worried about spending alot of money on repairs i would just stay away from audis, actually german cars in general..
