USA Today ran a story today on "bang for the buck" cars, i.e. cars with over 300 hp at a reasonable cost. They highlighted the Genesis coupe, saying it would have 306 hp in V6 form and would undercut the Mustang GT, which starts at $26k. Replying to: allmet33 (Mar 17, 2008 1:03 pm) In fact, I'd say the same thing about the new Accord, the new Acura RL, and several other misguided imitations of something not worth making, let alone imitating. Every time an Asian maker knocks off that abominable "flame surfacing," it lends new fuel to the criticism that they can't create, only imitate. As I've written before, the shame of this is that Honda in particular has shown the ability to design a clean car (S2000, last-gen Accord) when it wasn't obsessed with the "safety" of being derivative. Rest assured this isn't the fault of the designers, but the gutless executives who rule them.

Replying to: dborth (Mar 17, 2008 5:29 pm)  That being the case, then expect the Gensis Coupe to be slightlier heavier than if it did have the 3.3. I can see the Coupe coming in around 3300 lbs (no more than 3400 lbs), which isn't terrible considering it's going to pump out just over 300 hp. I still think it's going to be a very respectable machine.

mags that the base Genesis Coupe (with the 2.4L turbo 4 cyl and 6-speed manual transmission)will retail for $19,995. Chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.
