I am facing the same dilemma as well. I like the styling of the X5 3.0si over the Porsche Cayenne V6 but I find the Porsche to be quicker.
Now the perfect solution will be BMW putting the twin turbo in the X5 as 08 model, but I have my doubts.

I agree with you that the X5 looks more masculine, but I think the Cayenne not bad at all. After owning it for a week, I like it more and more everyday. I don't care what other people think but everything I look at it, it reminds me that I'm driving a Porsche.
I just came back from a weekend escape to the country side with four adults. There are times I wish I had the Cayenne S, but once I put it in S mode the thought disappear.

yeah its a tough choice. I like the styling of the Porsche better however. BMW is nice, but they added too much pastic around the bumpers, wheels and windows, whereas the Porsche has lots o f metal. I thin the porsch is more fun to drive for sure! My only concern now is if the Cayanne looks too fememine for me?

hi there, i think the opposite, that the porsche looks way more cool and modern than the x5, thats why I want to get rid of my 2007 x5 for a 2008 cayenne (maybe we should just trade..)!
I kinda like the x5 interior better, but I think it still looks pretty cool.

Thanks for the feedback, however, the mercedes has horrible reviews (consumer reports), and the Q7 is just not a sports SUV at all, I too like audit a lot, but I think with the Q7 they really messed up! Its way too large, I think Im going to go with the Cayenne, especially not that I test drove again and discovered the sports button, it really adds a lot of power, plus I believe the Cayenne is the MOST attractive of them all. Fine finishes.

Good for you. I'm a fan of Audi too but I think the Q7 is too large and external styling is not my style so I gave it a pass when I search for my SUV. Love the technology and innter styling thought.

Does the Cayenne have an auxiliary stereo input (3.5mm single input) like the X5? If so, you can buy a $10 cable from stores like BestBuy to connect an iPod to an external stereo. Then just operate the iPod using its controls. It works great on BMWs that ship without a USB connector.
