most bimmers are redesigned every 7 yrs. porsche's 7 too but they do facelift, hp changes, etc. depends on the model. Cayenne's 4 yrs., Boxster was released on 97 wasn they did changes on hp or headlight lenses,etc. and finally did a redesign on 2005. Same as the Carrera, from 99-01 same body style but changes in hp & some options, 02model year to 04 (996) seems the same as the 99-01 but with different headlights. The 997 looks like the same body as 996 but is actually wider and looks better, more of the classic design.   I went to the BMW dealer SAturday to do the deal. Their knocking off $ 2k+ on the X5 but I walked away bec. they're $1.5k short on my trade. They wouldn't budge, underestimated me. They know it's my final choice so they thought that they already got me. I'm not gonna pay a dealer $1.5k just to get rid of my HOnda Pilot that's just 2 yrs old & in great shape. I'm not that desperate. I'm not gonna call them back even if they're the only one in the area that has a SPace gray on their lot.   Anyway went to a Lexus dealer on my way home & drove the GX470. NIce family SUV & probably the most practical choice bec of it's comfort & rock solid reliability. I also got tempted to test drive the GS & LS. That LS is one heck of a car. It's one that I'd drive when I'm tired of these sporty feeling vehicles.   Right now I don't know what's gonna happen. Taked to the Porsche salesman & told me that he just got an 05 Carrera with 9k mi & the sticker is at $65k. He had me drive one when I was looking at their Cayenne awhile ago.   Should I just get rid of my Lexus & keep the Honda as the family car ? Get either a used Carrera or a new LS ?? Replying to: oniac (Apr 14, 2007 10:01 pm) Thanks for the reply...   So what ur trying to say is that u went to get the x5 deal wasn't done...   Then went to lexus drove the GX470 and u liked it.   Then drove GS LS liked the LS as well.   While u were looking for a cayenne u got more confused when the sales person told u abt the carrera...   This is sure getting confusing...   Its ur choice at the end of the day...   My opinion better than going for an old carrera anything of the above...   The Gx looks a bit old , I don't know much abt the LS heard good and bad things abt it in this site reviews abt the LS. But the LS sure looks like a great car and 1 of the best sedans.   SUVS Well i suggest cayenne or the x5 r abt it.   But as i said before its ur choice and what u like..   Gud luck ...Hope u can decide

Correct, I didn't get the x5 bec they wouldn't take my Pilot for the $19k I owe on it. They only wanted $17.5k for it.   So are you saying stick w/ the Cayenne & X5 & forget the 2005 Carrera ?   The GX470 is a great family SUV,no way as sporty as the X5 & Cayenne but one that you can drive everyday without worrying about anything but gas & regular maintenance. I'm not considering it, I'm still on the X5 or Cayenne. Just got sidetracked a bit. Too many cars out there. I'm gonna go to another BMW dealership this week. They have a metallic black that's configured like the Space Gray I am looking at. We'll see, if that still doesn't work then Cayenne is it or will just keep the Honda & replace my 02 Lexus instead. Replying to: oniac (Apr 15, 2007 1:42 pm) Look at the Audi q7. It has utility of the gx but the driving style of the x5 and cayenne. The cayenne is overpriced imo. The audi is nicer, bigger, handles just as well, and is less expensive. id go with the q7 or x5. the gx is outdated.

The Q7's interior is nice but power's lacking. Even the v8 isn't enough for it's size & it is a gas killer. It's a bit sloppy too, I guess the size attributes to that. It is a good family SUV though like the GX & I agree that the GS is getting old (4th yr). I've always like Audi's styling but it's reliability has always pushed me away from this brand.
