First Drive: 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible - Punch line or not, the Chrysler Sebring has had a lot of takers. It's been the best-selling convertible in the U.S. for seven of the past 11 years, so maybe the joke's on us. (more)

Full Test: 2008 Chrysler Sebring Limited Convertible - s with so many things, it probably begins with looking good. And the Sebring Limited Convertible has the looks to attract many suitors, with a long, smartly styled hood matched to a high-waisted profile. (more)

I have a 2006 Impala with the base six (3.5 litre) and I get around 20 in town and 32-34 on the road. I doubt that high gas prices will "kill" the V-6. I certainly intend to get one on a TOuring convertible as soon as 2008 program cars hit the street. I like to be able to pass people and my experiences with the 4's have not been good. A V-6 is normally smooth, quiet, and fairly economical -not as much as a diesel but it is a lot less noisy. If I had a 25 mile commute each way to work like I did in New Orleans I wouldn't consider anything but a VW Passat or Civic or a small Toyota -certainly not a mid size Chrysler or Impala. By the way if diesel fuel which is currently cheaper than gas (but it hasn't always been) becomes super popular the gas companies will simply raise the price. Trust me.

I was also interested in these when I first heard about them, as a possible replacement for my 1998 Sebring Jxi which I still drive everyday. It was frustrating not being able to see/drive one, and while looking at other hardtop convertibles, I noticed the common trait of NO TRUNK SPACE. I want to cruise to the beach, or home from the store with the top down and my belongings in the trunk.

I ended up buying my wife the best looking convertible on the road for 2007, a Mustang GT, and kept my '98 Jxi.

2.7 Litre Engine by dispencer2

This engine - used in the Touring model -once had sludge problems. Does anyone associated with Chrysler on this forum know if this is the same engine or have improvements been made to eliminate the sludge problem? I change oil every 3,000 miles at a dealer anyway regardless of what car or truck I have. I wonder if I should get the 3.5 engine instead although I won't get the hardtop convertible. I like trunk space.

I believe Chrysler has done some modifications to the 2.7. If the difference in price between the 2.7 and 3.5 isn't much I would go with the 3.5. Otherwise, get an extended powertrain warranty for the 2.7 and use synthetic oil. Good luck.

Chrysler should have kept the name "Le Baron" as it said nothing of a sporting nature. On the other hand the name "sebring", when attached to this vehicle becomes offensive to me. But frankly my dear, I don't give a damn because I really like this Chrysler convertible, though in the soft top version, name or no name.

It is handsome and comfortable with power more than sufficient for a touring car on American highways. The price is reasonable and I'm sure negoationable, through hungry Chrysler dealers. I would prefer that it were a Saturn Aura XR convertible, but, alas Saturn does not offer a touring size convertible.

I think I'll buy one,.....as a second car to my Wonderful Saturn XR sedan, thus answering both my masculine and feminine sides.

A very nice car, this Chrysler in spite of it's Ill chosen name.
