And that's why it doesn't matter that the 2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid won't blow you away with its drag-strip performance or skid-pad numbers. (more)

The article states that the Mercury does 0-60 in 10.8 seconds, which is 0.7 seconds faster than the Saturn. The Saturn VUE Green Line article you site also lists it as hitting 60 in 10.8 seconds, so there's no difference at all. Just thought I'd point that out.

The Mercury is certainly decent, but for similar performance and not much better mileage (I average what you got for the Mercury in my GL), not to mention less interior space, I'll take the Saturn and the extra $5000.

For most peeps, the whole point of this is getting an SUV with good gas mileage. I think that one tank of 32mpg meets that goal.

I am getting 31.9 on my 2007 Mariner Hybrid. I am well pleased with the gas mileage.

Otherwise I would be at the Mercury shop this AM, at least for a test drive. Why have VSC on the standard Escape/Mariner and not the hybrids?

Add VSC, disconnect one front halfshaft, over-ride the rear drive disable capability and one has the absolute SAFEST RWD hybrid SUV on the market.

I have 1200 miles on my new Mariner Hybrid and it has proven to drive 32 MPG in mixed driving conditions...some Hwy, some traffic, some city. It doesn't seem to matter. Love the car, the technology, the ride, the mpg. Couldn't be happier.

I now have over 6000 miles on my 2008 AWD Mariner. I get between 26 and 32 mpg, depending on the circumstances. To comment on the Full Review, I replaced the stock tires with Pirelli Scorpion ATRs for much better performance--grip, braking, handling, etc. The brakes feel just fine to me, not mushy.

I've had my 2008 Mariner Hybrid awd for two weeksnow and just realized a lack of engine temp gauge (ICE). so far it is the first negative thing i can say about the vehicle. I know it has an idiot light which is going to warn me if it overheats but i like to watch the trend of temperature increase in the cooling sustem.
Anybody else bothered by this deficiency?
