Make the customer happy and they'll be back. Customer service varies by dealership across all brands regardless of who the manufacturer of the vehicle is. Stop and think about how many thousands of people and parts it takes to design and build an automobile. Parts are built by many different vendors using various different materials and manufacturing processes. All those various parts have to fit and work together when they are assembled on the assembly line. Just imagine the impact potential of something going wrong with any one or more of those parts! Manufacturers get themselves into trouble whenever they start cost reducing the various parts or processes to make them cheaper, which sometimes shows up in the end product as quality defects and/or poor reliability.

The vehicle was a joint venture by Mazda and Ford, but, most of the vehicle was a Mazda. Mazda American Credit is a division of Ford Motor Credit, and back in the 80's and 90's, Mazda did not have their own bank, that is why they used Ford's. At the time, Ford (or Primus I think) was one of the biggest in the world. Mazda and Ford have been sharing technology for decades. Currently, Mazda is NOT owned by Ford. Ford has 33.4% interest in Mazda. Mazda still calls the shots with what they want to do. Think of the relationship as more of a partnership. About the door latch problem, it is up to MNAO to decide whether it is a problem, not Mazda over in Japan or Ford. MNAO covers Canada, United States. One considering a Mazda should not think they are all Fords. They just share technology. Actually, Ford currently has the best reputation out of any American car companies according to numerous sources, including CR.
