Hey Guys.. on my cell phone, I call my work, and have it programmed to insert a pause, waiting for a voice prompt from the system. So I dial something like, 232-223-4345 (P) Pause 3432 (P) 2212... can I do something like this with the TL? I have not found a way. I can see I can insert a * or a #, but does either one of these insert a PAUSE, for a few seconds, while the system ask's me to enter my extention or password? Thanks scott |

It just got wonky when it tried to insert pauses when calling. I know this probably does not help, but it is supposed to work, so give it a shot. Maybe it was just my LG Chocolate (the newer one). |

Hey aaargh... when you state, "I know this probably does not help" YOU ARE RIGHT, no help at all - why waste time posting? On the phonebook... I have a Toyota Prius (08) and my wife is driving the Acura (08). I must say, the Prius phone book is SO EASY - here are the issues I have, so if I missed something please let me know... On the TL - to use the phone book, other than by voice, I have to push INFO, then phonebook, then the phonebook I want to use (in case there are 2 different phonebooks in the system) then I can hit LIST or search for a name. What a PAIN! I want to skip the step where I have to 'select' the phone book I want to use. I have arranged the most common names so they are on the top (first page) of the Acura phone book (did this by placing an "A" in front of the names I want to be on the 1st page). Any way to eliminate pushing the 'select phone book' ? On the Prius, it's so 'user friendly' - I can store 'speed dials', 18 of them. I have one page for Family, one page for Friends, and one page of name for Hobby friends of mine. Very cool. Easy to get to or I can voice dial also. WHEN I PUSH the steering wheel 'on hook' buttom, the phonebook pops up on the display, I can easily select who I want to call - 1 button... it works great. I can also place a PAUSE into any number easily!! Acura, you missed the boat on this. If I missed anything, please let me know. I continue to research because I don't believe Acura would be so 'behind the times' on this. It's a poor design for a phonebook. sc

As for the helpfulness of my previous reply, as I said, it was not of much help in solving your problem because I could not get it to work properly. That in itself IS helpful in that the system is not good with pauses and you may expect the same. THAT IS WHY I POSTED. Appreciate my time for sharing my poor experience and don't be so darn RUDE. I can think of nastier things to say, but I think my sentiment is clear.

OK, sorry, sometimes I just get frustrated when people reply to posts and there is no helpful information in the post. Verifying what we already know is not any help to me - perhaps others? Anyway, I'll say thanks, and move on. sc

Just because the information doesn't suit you does not mean it should not have been posted. Actually, I think verifying what you and others already know is helpful because it means that your unit is not malfunctioning. That is useful information in problem-solving. I hope you find what you are looking for - if we can't provide it and you do find it, I hope you'll come back and share it with the forum. Take care and take it easy. Life's short, as they say. |

Replying to: scottc3 (Apr 11, 2008 7:40 pm) The "pause" on mine basically takes the place of a number, so think about how long it takes for you the TL to send a single digit and that's about the length of a single pause. May not be ideal, but what I do is program a # for my voicemail, then program the codes I want automatically enterred once I'm in the system. Then, once voicemail picks up, I say the code entry word and "send" that.

Replying to: scottc3 (Apr 17, 2008 3:07 pm) I programmed my office voice mail number and call it "office voice mail." When I want to call that #, I hit the button and say "call office voice mail." I programmed a separate numer into my phonebook, too. It consists of my passcode, the pound sign, 2 pauses, a secondary code, 2 pauses, and a 3 (I need to push 3 when I'm in my system to check current messages). I labeled this number "office voice mail codes." When I call into my office voicemail, I say "call office voice mail." When the system answers and asks me to enter my password, I hit the talk button and say "send office voicemail codes." Since the system doesn't have a "pause" that waits until the phone connects, this is how I handle it. Hope you find it helpful. |
