I'm sorry your having so many problems with your SRX.
I have an 08 SRX V6, and "Knock on Wood" no problems yet.

Your 1st mistake is actually buying an SRX, let alone any GM product. My car is leased, and i won't ever go beyond the warranty period for any GM vehicle. I just don't think they seem to last in the long run. Just my opinion from experience with other GM leased vehicles.

Point of clarification. The SRX is leased. I like the car however I have a bad one. There has never been a time during the duration of the lease where the car did not have a problem that required service or was waiting for parts. It has gotten to the point where I simply ignore smaller defects rather than endure another trip to the dealer (only to be told that they have to order the parts). The worst part is the attitude of GM. You would think that with less than 6 months left on the lease they might make some kind of deal in return for leasing another vehicle....nothing. My last 2 Volvo's saw the dealers contacting me to bring them back early and get another one (and they were great cars). GM can't see the forest for the trees. I have never been treated this way by any other company. I tried to escalate my concerns to more senior people at GM only to be told that "they don't talk to customers". That is a direct quote and one of the funniest comments I think I have ever heard. I have chosen to vote with my feet. None of my friends would ever consider buying/leasing a cadillac as a result.

Pardon me, but you stated " It's the worst car I have ever owned ". I assumed the obvious.
As far as your dealings with GM, I understand how that can be very frustrating.
I'm surprised they couldn't have even done a pull-ahead on the lease, but i guess that would only apply if you leased another GM vehicle.
I'm also curious that if you had such good luck with Volvo and Acura, why bother with Cadillac in the first place?

The SRX is an interesting vehicle and was a good size for our family. It is my wife's vehicle and she liked the extra horsepower. I was willing to take the leap of faith and lease another Caddy or an Enclave but as I mentioned, GM/dealer were not willing to do anything. I have since been told that the 04 models were a disaster with many dealers having to make right with customers. What is most frustrating (and even funny) is getting Cadillac customer service on the phone and recounting the service history and making them state for the record that they see no problem with a vehicle that has had more than 20 service visits. It is like trying to convince them that the earth is flat. I have learned that the dealers have very little say in these matters and that they have a dim view of GM. The dealers get left holding the bag. This should be a concern to anyone looking at a Cadillac. If you have problems you are on your own.

info on 04 caddy SRX v6 by twiztedninja

Ok so this is actually info for my brother who is looking to buy a car and he has found an '04 SRX v6. I have never owned a Cadillac in my life as all I have heard is nothing but bad news, from the engine to overall maintenance. I worked at an oil changing place for a while and every single one I saw was either leaking something or had some sort of malfunction. But as I know from experience a car forum can greatly help in getting to know what to look for and the usual problems that they have.

That said from the reading I've done it would seem that they have some sort of starting issue. As well I have read about a few owners having to leave their cars at the dealership for work for completely outrageous ammounts of time. The few good posts I have found were from people who have just bought them. I really don't think I have found one good one from anyone owning it for more than 5 months. Anywho, thanks for any comments and help. Once again this is for my less-than-computer-literate brother.

Like I stated previously, the SRX I have is a lemon. I don't even bother to take it in for service anymore for minor things. By example...the dealershiop has ordered the wrong part for the side mirror malfunction 3 separate times. On two previous service visits the response I got was simply that they must have ordered the wrong part. The side mirror has not worked properly since the day I got it. It goes into the reverse parking position and then will not return automatically. A simple issue that has cost me many many hours for service visits.

Like I said...if you have problems you are on your own.

Buy an Acura...I have owned 2 and the only service they required was an oil change.

This is a replacement for an 04 MDX which was destroyed in an accident. The 05SRX V8 AWD had 25k when purchased with a certified warranty. Since January purchase date and 5000 miles later it has had a new computer (Delivered with inoperative cruise control) and recently they replaced the rear differential, and 2 tire sensors. No problems with the dealer.
Wonderful car with every option.Sticker was 60k

had my srx 2 1/2 yrs. the only maintence was a detached gas filling cap and rear wheel brake pads. the original goodyear eagle tires were awful---bald at 50k! replaced with micheline. I get the oil changed when it is 25%. I do all types of driving. I FIND THE SRX VERY RELIABLE IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER AND DRIVING CONDITIONS. It isn't the softest ride in the world but it is a heavy duty crossover with european design. You feel the road. So far I am delighted with it in all aspects. I get an honest 20.3 mpg average and 22.5 on a 65 mph trip. I intend on driving it until it gets too old or craps out. Perhaps 3 more years. From dealing experiences I will only trade a worn out tired car and pay cash difference. ''BETTER BARGINING POWER''. Otherwise the dealers screw you on the trade. My local cadillac dealer went out of business and I was not informend where to go for repairs!! I bought a factory 6yr bumper to bumper warranty! My only complant is that if I need repair warranty work I have to travel 50 miles. So far, my srx runs like a clock. I RECOMMEND OWNING ONE. ''BUY AMERICAN''
HUGO FROM MASSACHUSETTES.
