On Dec 31st 2007, we bought a 2007 VC limited FWD from Carlsbad Hyundai at Car County Carlsbad in North San Diego County for $28995. You might try them if you are still in the market....

Have you checked Cochran in Monroeville? They list 3 2007 and 4 2008 VCs in stock.

and a few more at their South Hills location.

I'm not having a problem finding the model, I am waiting for a rebate or better yet, a good interest rate.

We've driven the VC several times at several midstate dealers, but the lowest price we've found is at an Atlanta dealer, 2007 VC Limited with ultimate pkg rear dvd for $32,500 drive out. Not our color though. Is there an advantage to buying from a large volume dealer with 26 on the lot rather than the small town guy with only 2 in stock? Do the big guys get bigger incentives from the mfg?

I have been on the lookout as well for a 2008 VC Lim. w/ NAV FWD; and the best deal I can get so far here in Richmond, Virginia is $34,950. When I asked for the best price on a 2008 Sante Fe, w/ FWD, and all the same whisltes and bells as the VC I want, they told me it came with a $2K rebate, and they would sell it for $29,700. Both of these prices did not come with title taxes and tags. Although I might have been able to do better if they thought I would truly have bought that day. I told them to give me the best deal since I was going to price shop, I do it in person at thre dealership, and I was in no hurry.

I wonder if the dealer really thought we would buy that day if the price was low enough, if they would not come off the price more that they tell us when they know we are simply shopping, since, if they know we are comparing prices, they know we will come back again with another offer based on the otherr dealers we are getting prices from, and... this is the important point, they want the last shot.

Lemonesq,

In March there are rebates on every Hyundai, except the Veracruz. Check the Hyundai USA website under specials. This might explain why the dealer was willing to give you 2K on a Santa Fe and nothing on a Veracruz.

This info is a bit dated now but maybe useful to some New Englanders. I bought a 08 VC AWD Limited for my wife in December. Here are a few thoughts and impressions.

I was a dedicated Toyota fan shopping for a replacement for her aging RAV 4 fwd, which was spending too much time parked at the bottom of our steep icy driveway (Maine) this winter. I would have bought a Highlander but for the fact that the arrogant dealer wouldn’t budge on his ridiculous 15% margin and insisted we buy from his on lot inventory (not one but 2 dealers treated us identically). Hyundai worked hard to sell us this car and gave us a great trade in on my RAV4 (Toyota made an insulting tradein offer). It may have helped that we had cash in hand and it was 2 days before the end of the year. We were only interested in the stone/ tan color scheme and they brought one over from another lot to test drive.

Also tried the Lexus RX-350 but found it lacking headroom due to the sunroof housing and priced exorbitantly for such a small car.

So far I am almost completely happy with the VC. The quietness is amazing although there is some tire/ suspension noise on rough roads. It plows up our 300’ long driveway in any combination of ice & snow and feels very competent driving in slippery conditions.

I am a little disappointed that there is no MP3 plug in, and apparently won’t be one. Recording discs in MP3 format is a pain, but I’ll get over it. Also, at 6’2” I too can’t find enough leg room up front. Even with the electric seats. They could have mounted them further back and sacrificed a bit of unused rear leg room.

So far the fit and finish rivals Lexus except the exterior paint job. I haven’t seen this much orange peel since my ’61 Rambler Classic. Of course they say I should have opted for the clear coat. The gas filler cover doesn’t fit exactly flush either.

All up, if the car lasts as well as it should it looks like the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

Oh, and the price? $1800 below invoice w/ 1500 miles on it (manager drove to & from home for 2 months) and full warranty. Until I got here I thought I’d negotiated a good price. I too am amazed they are willing to cut that sharply (-$2000-$2500). With winter in full swing and a new snowstorm bearing down on us I was pretty happy with what we got.

I agree completely with you, Hotrudderbum....We bought the VC FWD Ltd the last day of Dec 2007. We love the car in most ways, but the seats in front are a little too small, they sit too high for me ( also 6'2" ) and one of the first things that I noticed was the paint job. I thought it had clear coat....I didn't think anyone painted cars today without it. It does have a lot of orange peel. It shows mostly on the sides, on our car. AT ANY RATE...IT IS A GREAT CAR. We haven't driven it much, but with this warranty and the quality that that is built into the car..6 speed trans etc, we both love it. We don't have the icy driveway in So Cal, but it really does well on the freeways............Best of luck with the car, I am sure you will never regret the purchase
