In response to stating that my car was purchased used. My car was never licensed to anyone prior to my purchase. The ticking sound I hear is constant with radio on or off. To be more specific on what it sounds like - remember being a little kid and putting a playing card in your bike spokes and riding around? That is the sound my car makes all of the time. You hear it on the outside and inside of the car. I have taken it to the only two places in Spokane that General Motors will allow to work on my car without violating my warranty. Nobody will touch it but all have admitted there is definitely a problem. I say LEMON LAW!!!!!!!!!

when you say the only two places in Spokane....does that mean there is simply two pontiac dealerships in the city?...any Pontiac dealership can perform warranty work...again..has the regional tech rep been involved yet?...if so and they refuse to do anything else...then try the BBB and begin the arbitration route....
when you say a flyer....is a dealership flyer..or is it a technical service bulletin from GM.....again..time to get the regional tech rep involved here...you keep stating GM will not let them work on the car on the basis of this flyer..thus I asked if it was a TSB...regardless.....the service manager needs to get the tech rep involved....if they refuse...then call customer service....number is in the owners manual...

The Pontiac web-site lists 2 dealers within a 25 mile range of Spokane and a total of 4 dealerships within 50 miles of the city center...
In fact, can't any GM dealership perform warranty work? I was under the impression that you could get warranty repair done on any GM product done at any GM dealership....I didn'r realize that "Mr. Goodwrench" had split personalities.

NO..for warranty work...only the brand dealer can do the work....for normal maintenance ...any dealer can preform the work as long as they have the appropriate tech training and tools...which is always the case....
in order to get reimbursed for the warranty work from GM...only a Pontiac dealer can do the work.....

Hmmm...I guess you learn something new every day...
Although, when I was younger (30 + years ago), the Pontiac dealer in my hometown could and did warranty work (drive train and body) on Buicks, Oldsmobiles and Chevrolets, even though there was a local dealer for each make.
But, as I said, that was a long, long ttime ago...

wow, no cupholder for you-we're taking away your caffeine Why the tirade over this?
I like to drive my car to work.
I go to work in the morning.
Some times I am running late and want to take my coffee with me.
It's hard to shift with a cup of coffee crotched.
So I use cupholders.
The ones in my truck are nice and sturdy, and you can reach them.
(without being double jointed)
The ones in my GXP are all yucky, but I shouldn't complain?
Because they kinda, sorta, tried.
But cupholders are pretty tricky to design.

As far as the solstice GXP goes I sort of equate it to the late sixties muscle car, you know the 69 camero with a bench seat a 350 and a 4 speed. Did it handle well not really, was it comfortable not so much, did it go when you puched the gas, hell yes it did. It was a bare boned performance machine. The GXP is our modern muscle car in a roadster package, in my opinion it is cheap for the muscle you get. If you care about automatic push button convertible tops or 13 cup holders this is not your car. Its not a daily driver if you're not a driving enthusiast, but if you are comfortable hammering through gears with a quick and heavey clutch you will love this car for its price and performance.

I get what you mean about price and performance but beg to differ about not being a daily driver. I now have 14,000 miles on my 2008 GXP. Most of that is going to and from work. I still get a kick out of making the 26 mile each way commute to get to work. Top up in the morning, top down going home. I am getting 32 MPG AVERAGE (mixed city and interstate, regular gas) with the 5-speed auto and have only had one speeding ticket so cost of operation is way good.
And as far as the cupholder goes, the one on the trans tunnel is perfectly positioned and sized for my oversize coffee mug................ I arrive in style with a smile.

I bought a used 2006 Pontiac Solstice base in April, with 15k miles on the odometer. It had a few technical issues that were covered by the factory warranty. I have since put another 15k miles on the car due to my 90+ mile daily commute and frequent jaunts around town, including to and from lunch with a passenger in tow. The experience has been a relative pleasure.
The car's no rocket, but it overall performance is satisfying and the looks are great.
I've found a few nitpicky things I would improve, but I think you've been especially harsh. None of the issues you raise have presented an onerous problem for me, despite the fact I've probably already driven tens of thousands of miles more in a Solstice than have you. At best, your comments are banal, but they definitely indicate excess fussiness and finicky taste. Maybe you should move your job to the DuPont Registry.
