Trust me it can handle it, it was built to.   #1 could be the case if the bogging happened at a lower rev. That built-in limiter you mentioned happens at a lower point on the rev-band, I think somewhere around 3 grand. At 7,000, he is already in VTEC...   If the CEL light came on, O2 sensor issue would be my guess. Keep us posted. Mine is all female!   Oh, I know the VTEC-ing is fun, just thought you might be doing it for a reason other than fun.   In my Baja, if I hit red-line, the fuel would shut off so violently that I'd just about hit my steering wheel with my face... ok, maybe not that extreme but sure felt like it. Replying to: accelerator (May 29, 2007 7:32 am) Nah, mine's a "She" as well.   Baja, huh? Cool, I have a Subaru for a DD as well. Haven't gone to redline with that yet, although the boxer engine seems willing to. I'm just trying to keep the gas mileage up.

hey the motor's bogging at 7k because it either isn't warmed up or most likely in this case (since it tripped a CEL) you need oil very bad. my 01 did the same thing well after it was warmed up. the motor runs at such a high compression rate to achieve that whopping 9000 rpm redline and if there was even a remotely insufficient amount of oil at 9k, the motor would blow within seconds... if you have any other questions about s2000's, feel free to jump on over to s2ki.com. we are s2000 enthusiasts and talk about s2k's, our ownership, our modifications, we go on group drives with other s2k owners, and a lot of the time, we just shoot the breeze with other owners/enthusiasts. so everyone should feel welcome to join. thanks, mason
