No doubt, a FUN ride, but the pricing leaves me with several questions.
600+ horses for 120k. Certainly some other toys on the car that make that kind of price.
That being said, how about a bare bones Z06 with 505 ponies; hand built engine; dry sump lube; 6/4 piston brakes etc, etc. etc--bare bones it goes for 70k and is about 150# lighter. Now, let's snap on a supercharger, maybe heads/cam for about 10k and you have a track (and street) MONSTER that may well put the Callaway to shame.
Don't know, but 120k is huge $$$$ and leaves me a bit cold.

I hear that Callaway is working on a supercharged, lightweight, Z06 based version as well. Re. pricing: Most dealers are charging 15K over for a Z06 and the SS version of the '09 C6 is thought to be well north of 100K...for a stock bodied car that still looks like a Corvette! The Callaway at 120K is a steal. They make 150 cars/year. Loook at any other good specialist ( Ruf, e.g.) and the cost is easily 300K

It would be highly unlikely that this level of performance be offered in a convertible. And for good reason! The torque levels produced are huge, and they present a challenge to the integrity of the chassis/body configuration.
 
Chevy has built the Z06, for example, for a number of years, and they are never available in convertible form. One reason, of course, is weight reduction (mechanicals for tops are weighty), but primarily the coupe framework provides significant additional body strength to deal with the massive torque.
 
Bottom line, you don't want a convertible with the kind of torque a Z06 or Callaway 16 produces.

No issue, just reporting the facts on previous Callaways. Do you dispute this? A long warranty just means that when your car is in the shop, you're not going to be charged for it...

The days of over sticker for a Z06 is ancient history. Supply has caught up with demand and a vast majority of dealers are doing sticker...or less. $1,000 is not uncommon. Saw one dealer in Ohio going 3k+ off.
I saw nothing in the article that would make the Callaway unit worth anything close to 50k more than a Z06.
There may be content in the Calloway that I am not aware of but Callaway badges/stickers on the car do not make it quicker.
"120k a steal" leaves a lot of questions in my mind.

You're reciting yesterday's news. In the old days, this might have been a valid argument. However, in the Corvette there is no difference between the coupe and convertible chassis. In fact, all Corvettes are designed as convertibles. Make no mistake, the removble roof of the coupe makes every C6 a "convertible." The GM decision to offer Z06 as a coupe is for marketing reasons only.
Callaway introduces C16 Convertible at the New York Auto Show, April 6-15.
