This one is in beta, but is getting good reviews. I'm still a hack.

Ok, Tiger won another major. I am a fan, but got a bit tired of watching Tiger just beat up on every course he tackled. Glad I watched this one though. Rocco made me feel like us old guys can hold our own, and Tiger indeed showed why he is the real deal like never before. Good show.

And still in obvious pain from his recent knee surgery, too. Just an awesome performance!!

(But I do admit to rooting for Rocco just because...)

Same here... I was hoping Rocco would win just because he should get ONE, and Tiger has so many years ahead of him. I was a little disappointed because I invested a lot of time yesterday in watching the Open, only to find that there was no resolution. And of course, like most others, I had to work during most of today's playoff and only managed to see the last few minutes. At least it was a cliffhanger more than a foregone conclusion!

You would think just once a decade one of Tigers opponents would come up with a good shot to beat him... to drive that final nail in the coffin. Good ole Rocco had two chances on the 18th hole. One in the final round and one in the playoff. He had short irons into the greens both days... couldn't get it close.

Tiger hits into a sand trap, lays up in the rough, then hits 15 feet from the pin to make birdie and force the playoff. The guy is good... but come on. I smell some sort of conspiracy, alien intervention... or a deal with the devil. Whenever the guy has needed a big shot, he gets it. Whenever he has needed an opponent to miss... he has gotten it. No humanoid is that good.

If any of of you PGA weinnies are reading this, will one of you step up and make golf interesting again? Stop choking and playing like a bunch of sissy la moo moos. Once I get over this bad case of toe fungus, I'll be able to practice golf like I want. Pencil the Jipster in as next years Masters champ!!

Now that Woods is done for the year (can you imagine playing 91 holes with a torn ACL and 2 stress fractures of the tibia?), the rest of the tour had better step up.

This should make the last two majors, the FedEx Cup and, most importantly, the Ryder Cup much more interesting.

However, you gotta believe that every network that carries golf is crying in their beer about now ....

My wife tore her ACL and meniscus last Feb., did rehab and then had surgery back in April, on almost the same day Tiger had his arthroscopic surgery to remove cartilage (I'm guessing that his meniscus wasn't repairable like her tears were).

She thinks Tiger screwed up by not having the ACL and meniscus done then - she's about recovered and has just been given the ok to do anything (albeit with a brace for hiking or skiing, etc.).

Tiger could have won his six last season, skipped the Open this year, had the ACL surgery instead of just cleaning out the cartilage, and then been good to go after a couple of months of rehab. If his surgery is complicated now by skipping the ACL when they did the April surgery -- well, makes you wonder what if, if his repair is one of the 10% that don't turn out well.

Funny how men ignore medical advice. Maybe there's contractual money issues involved.

Tiger is getting old. At 32 years old his body can't handle the tremendous swing forces he generates the way it did when he was in his twenties. That Tiger would jepordise his health, in pursuit of a legendary status second to none, is not very smart. He'll need to revamp his swing to take some pressure off that knee.

This is not the first suspect decision Tiger has made in a major. I recall a shot where his ball was against a partially buried rock and he hit it anyway, risking serious injury. And another time where he hit a shot that the follow through was going to immediately hit a tree. Another instance where ANYTHING could have happened. There are instances or golfers breaking clubs during swings and having been seriously injured by the flying shaft fragments.

I've thought all along that his body would eventually force a swing change becuase he just wouldn't be able to swing that hard forever. I really thought it would be his back, but your knees are another weak spot.

The same type of thing happened to the Williams sisters in tennis. When you are young and wirey the body is much more flexible and heals quicker. The years and pounds make it a lot tougher on the body to perform at the same high levels. It breaks down.

I think Tiger has always thought of himself as indestructable... like most young athletes. It will be interesting to see how he handles this setback.
