I have a 03 525 with 22K miles. I purchased a comprehensive program from my BMW Dealer. The company's name was Universal Underwriters Group backed by Zurich. My dealership has been using this company for 20 years. I have the highest level of coverage available with a $100 Ded. It is valid until Dec 2012 or 75K miles. The cost was very reasonable.

If you provide me your email address, I would be happy to send you the contact information for the F&I manager. She is easy to work with and will provide you a discounted quote.

It is my opinion that the CPO program is too expensive for 2 additional years of coverage (I assume you are the original owner, if not, you cannot purchase the CPO (the correct name is extended)warranty.

Let me know if I can help.

Good Luck!

#9 of 58 Extended warranty for BMW 2008 528i by bmw_user

Hi,
I am buying a new 2008 BMW 528i. I am planning to buy extended warranty to help after the standard 50,000 mile warranty BMW gives. Is it a good idea? How much it may cost and what are the best places to buy around Chicago area. I am also interested in understanding how it works and what it covers. I would appreciate any links.
Thanks.

#10 of 58 Excessive Wear and Tear and Wheel Insurance - Waste of money or smart buy?? by na530i

Hi all,

I just signed a 2-year lease on a 530i Sport package, premium, etc.

I was sold on buying the "excessive wear and tear insurance" and the "wheel insurance."

I spent approximately $920 on both and I'm being told by friends that this, "additional insurance" is borderline fraud.

Was it a smart buy??? Or a waste of money??

Any thoughts, comments, would be great appreciated.

The salesman's commission is up to 55% on that type of policy.

You can cancel that policy and get a pro rata return premium.

I would cancel that policy. Thats completely ridiculous and totally unnecessary.

#16 of 58 Zurich by bemmerluuver

looking for advice: I asked two of my local bmw dealership (NY.)service adviser's if they had experience dealing with Zurich (UUIC), they both acted as if they either never heard of the company, or they didn't trust that they would get paid for service's rendered. I got a very good quote from Sun Motor's for 5yrs. of comp. coverage on my E60, after the new car coverage expires, and I know that Zurich is quite a large insurance company, so why do you guy's think these service advisers are acting flaky when I ask them about it? could it be that they are simply trying to push coverage from company's that they use, and discourage me from using Zurich?

All are welcome to chime in.

Thanks

My dealer is Sun Motors, the SM told me that Zurich is a great company and they have had no problems working with them. (but they also sell the Zurich coverage) UUG (backed by Zurich) is one of the oldest names in the business. Sun Motors has been using them for 20 years. I also have a UUG policy, but have yet to use it.

Hope this helps.
