We seem to have two identical threads here.

Old vue or new Vue? They are fairly different vehicles. Haven't been in the new Vue but the old was much cheaper inside then the Rondo. You cannot get 7 seats in the Vue. The old has plstic doors for better or worse. The 4 cyl view was under powered and had some issues the 6 cyl was a bargain from the engine/transmission viewpoint as all Honda. More rear seat room in Rondo. Probably more room behind second row as well. If you want AWD and some ground clearance you have to pick the Vue. Good luck.

If this is the live thread, then the older thread should be killed... by csandste

In the meantime, here is the post I made on the other thread...

Are we talking the new 08 Vue or the old platform. Haven't seen the new one yet. It looks promising.

I've sat in the old Vue and I'd say that one is well behind the Rondo--which I've driven. On the otherhand, Saturn has better dealers.

In summary, I'd get an 07 Rondo over an 07 Vue, but might wait around for the 08. I would imagine the Rondo will continue to get big discounts of list, so the Kia will probably be a better buy.

If I'm not mistaken, the new Vue has Daewoo roots.

Daewoo, since it's take over by GM has passed Kia in sales, it is the primary Korean success story in the last couple of years.

When it comes to the actual quality of the cars, however, I'm not convinced that the GMDAT products have been that good. Look at the Suzuki threads to proof of that.

I still would give the Rondo the edge on this one, unless the new Vue proves durable. Frankly the new Vue is pretty, but a lot less distinctive than the Rondo (or the old platform plastic Vue(distinctive, not pleasing) for that matter).

The new Vue does look nice. The downside is that it is even smaller than the old but has become substantially heavier and much heavier than the Rondo. Unless you are waiting for the new Green Vue or the full hybrid Vue next year (I recall)I expect the Vue mileage will be poorer in the new model.

The new Vue has European roots as the Opel Antara, not Daewoo. The 4-cyl model is a little over 3800 lbs. The V6 is 4100 lbs for FWD and 4300 lbs for AWD. They are really porky for their size (1" longer than a Rondo).

The announcement confirms GM's commitment to its South Korean arm as the division has consistently delivered projects on time and under budget. GM is to expand GMDAT's product line-up as well; the unit recently began production of the Daewoo Windstorm (Chevrolet-branded Captiva) cross-utility vehicle (CUV) that will also underpin the European Opel Antera (see South Korea: 7 June 2006:GM Daewoo Launches Captiva SUV). GMDAT will also work to expand its large sedan line-up, working in conjunction with Australia's Holden on the ZETA platform, which underpins the new Commodore and will serve as the platform for a Daewoo product to replace the Statesman, currently imported to South Korea from Australia

It's good to see Saturn having the same relationship to Opel that Vauxhall does. The first gen. plastic cars were OK for their time but the Ion was one of the strangest and (especially the four door) ugliest vehicles ever. I know that the car sold quite well considering and so I'll probably get flamed but Opel stuff looks a lot better IMHO. Too bad the Aura didn't sell better in February.
