My CX-9 came with Sirius already installed, and Bluetooth didn't work from the get-go, i.e. same problem as you (no volume). Dealership's demo had the same issue, and they had to bring in the Mazda dudes to figure it out---in the end, they had to install an additional wire/connector on the harness at the back, and that made their demo work. Mine goes in next week...hopefully my issue is the same as theirs, since they never actually took a look at the car.
I had already bought a switching box to make the ipod work, and I asked the dealership to install it for free since I've had the car for over 2 months while waiting for this issue to be resolved. Hopefully it won't take 2 months for your bluetooth to get back in the game.
And let me just say that Mazda really screwed the pooch with their audio system. All these additional "boxes" that have to be installed to make things work properly, it's like they wen't shopping for the clearance items at Kmart.

Just thought I'd update the situation. Mazda said they needed to order some part in order for me to recieve Sirius and actually have my bluetooth work. They said it would take a couple of days. They seemed to be quite familiar with this problem but didn't know how to fix said problem. I think Mazda put the cart before the horse on this one i.e. they had a great concept but the follow through on the concept wasn't executed.

There's been a fix for this issue since last summer. I think your dealer was just a little behind on m-tips.

I thought the Am/FM antenna is located on the rear hatch glass, not the windshield. I could be wrong, though.
Anyway, I think the previous poster was asking about the sat radio antenna.

Sorry for the long response time. I do have full control of the iPod now, to include the steering wheel controls. I would say the main strength comes from being able to skip forward or backward in a playlist from the steering wheel controls. It claims to be able to change playlists and artists but I haven't master the complicated system yet. It is just easier to select these choices using the iPod itself. Hope this helps.

I will assume this is the Dice R2 unit, setup in the Dice mode. Did you install it yourself or have someone else do it (3rd party or Mazda Dealer)? If you did it yourself was it difficult? Any pitfalls? If someone else installed it how much did it cost? Where did you have the ipod hook up - in the center console or glove compartment? Lastly, at $50 extra, did you purchase the craddle unit to hold the ipod?

Correct you are... some times I get my gl(ass)es mixed up...
If they were reffering to the Sirus ... that antenna varies upon installation...

My first post in here. I bought my 2008 CX 9 Gt a week ago. I have the Bose package(no NAV, no DVD). Currently I have my iPod hooked up by using a simple patch cable and another cable that charges it. It looks like that the Dice unit will both play and charge the iPod at the same time. I also have a Dice in my BMW. How hard is it to install the Dice in the Mazda? Do I have to open up the console? It is a very install in the BMW. Also, Dice's site mentions an R2 unit for the 06 and 07, but not for the 08.
On another note, I was also looking at the Crutchfield noise isolator. Again, how easy is it to install?
It looks like I will be spending some time on this site...
