But just as you say, it takes the companies a few years to work out the bugs....................and then guess what : just as they finally get that model working just right, it's time for the next generation of that model and we start all over again. You just can't win..............especially if they will not honor their warranties.

Replying to: vanman1 (Feb 17, 2008 2:13 pm) problem on most American cars or foreign cars assembled by American Companies is the workmanship. Our workers no longer take pride in a job well done. All they want is the money and benefits; which is the main reason GM and others are attempting to buy out all the union workers and replace them with people who will realize that if they do shoddy work, they will be replaced and not have a union to protect them !

LOL I wouldn't say that the American workers "don't want to build a quality car" or "that they can't built a quality car" but rather they aren't allowed to build a quality car. Between the Unions wanting to get the highest salaries for the workers, and the stock holders demanding higher profits so they can have bigger dividend checks each quarter there isn't time to build a quality car. Every sub contracted component manufacturer has the same issues as the mother corporation. So every part cost more than it is worth and was made with the minimum allowable quality that will get past the inspectors. Until we eliminate the stock owners and the unions and are willing to pay a lot more for the same car, we will continue to build poor quality cars that you and I can afford. Secondary reason is of course the big car builders want you to have to buy a new car in about 4-5 years. No reason to build one that will last much more than that now is there? Of course you might be 100% correct and I may be all wet

I own a 2007 Aura XE. I started the car the other morning and my whole dash cluster just quit working. (no lights or gauge readings) I have had no problem with this car before this occurred and was actually considering trading it for an Aura XR next year. Has anyone else had this problem? It has an appointment Thursday morning at the dealership.

I don't know if this is or will become a problem ; but I have noticed that my engine compartment is still warm up to 5 or 6 hours after my engine has been shut off. You can place your hand on the hood and it also is very warm hours later. I know that almost all the components and the engine itself are all covered and I am wondering if this excessive heat retension will eventually destroy vital components such as battery, alternator, etc. My temp. guage on the instrument cluster always remains in the normal zone....so the engine is not overheating. I live in the mountains of NC and it gets fairly cold here, so I'm wondering how this heat retension will affect the car in 90 degree summer heat. Anyone else noticed this ? |

Replying to: dinof (Feb 14, 2008 12:28 pm) Saturn Marketing Support has no prior knowledge of this issue with Saturn AURA rocker panels. We recommend that you speak with the service department at your preferred Saturn retailer for their feedback. If there is an issue that arises with the rocker panels separating, this will be covered by the bumper to bumper warranty if it is determined that it is a factory malfunction. If there is a factory recall or special policy issued for this, and repairs have already been made, reimbursement will be addressed at that time. We hope this addresses your hesitation to purchase a Saturn AURA

Replying to: hackd (Feb 19, 2008 9:01 am) I was in Arbitration with Saturn Headquarters at Spring Hill, Tn. I won the Arbitration and Saturn was ordered to repair my Vehicle. Saturn then filed an " Impossible to Repair " document with the Arbitrator.............claiming the repair required a modification of the vehicle and modifications are NOT covered by the Saturn New Vehicle Warranty. You may contact me at dinof  carspace.com and I will send you a copy of the document stating it requires a modification and that they are not covered by the warranty.
