The GT500 rolls off the assembly (fully assembled and ready to ship to dealers) along with the regular Mustangs. You might be confusing it with the Shelby GT-H and Shelby GT. It was definitely for the cars that are drop shipped to Shelby because in addition to the 54U GT Upfitters package they also had to select another option for drop shipment to Shelby. It was another message board so maybe they said GT500 but meant GT or GT-H.
