-Turn the key to Ignition position I -Press and hold in the reset button for the trip odometer and turn the key to Ignition position II within 2 seconds -Hold the reset button until the warning triangle flashes. -Release the reset button for the trip odometer within 4 seconds. -The instrument panel gives an audible signal when resetting has succeeded.   This did work on my 2007 S40, be sure to close the doors, turn down the radio, and tell your wife to stop talking.   Thank You

Edmunds Maintenance said that is is about $3 labor to replace. Our local service station charged an hour's labor (about $80) and said that their mechanic took over an hour but they charged me an hour because that is how it is listed in Mitchell's. They further said that the time was so much because the filter is under the gas pedal and they had to remove the pedal. Unfortunately, I don't have a service manual to check. I wonder how Edmunds Maintenance came up with a $3 labor estimate. What is the cost of the filter? Although I'm not inclined to defend dealers' high service rates, I can't imagine getting anything done at any auto dealer for $3. Replies to this message: blumstein (Jul 10, 2009 1:28 pm)

Replying to: davidp158 (Jul 10, 2009 1:13 pm) The filter is twenty something dollars. Generally something that is pop-in would be a few dollars. Most air filters are in that category. It is possible that Edmunds made a mistake. I had an Alfa and they wanted $14 for a wiper blade in 1972. When the new parts book came out, it was $4. Obviously a typo. Oddly, the dealer didn't question the price. I found that standard American blades fit and were more Ozone resistant, so I bypassed the $14 blades and never went back, even when it was priced at $4,   Pb

Replying to: blumstein (Jul 10, 2009 11:12 am) Yes, in the 2006, and I think 2005-2009, the cabin air filter is in the "hump" beside the gas pedal and I watched the technician replace my first one in about 40 minutes...removed so much to get to the filter that I decided I'd just pay the shop in the future. Today I paid $130 for a filter and replacement. Very dirty after 25,000 mi. I also have a 2009 Prius and it took me less than 5 miutes and no tools last Saturday...Amazon price for the Prius Fram Fresh Breeze filter was less than $15. Oh well, my Volvo seats are better than those on the Prius....

Where is the cabin Air filter on my nonturbo 2.4L S40 2004.5 year located? instructions with the filter says on right side of gas pedal & also been looking under glove compartment all I see is fuses and FoMoCo stamps all over ..... Replies to this message: snead_c (Nov 18, 2009 7:52 pm)

Replying to: s40silverman (Nov 18, 2009 6:33 pm) I'm sorry to report that if yours is located like my 2006... inside of the fixture beside the gas pedal... Mine required removing the gas pedal, several pieces of fixture and lots of "stuff". I watched mine being replaced so I could "do it myself". Afterwards I decided I'd pay over $100 to have it done. In our Prius you push 2 clips on each side of the glove box and drop the box to expose the filter slot. It takes more time to empty the box than to change the filter.
