AWD systems are almost universally useless in the type of situations that people actually buy them for, because the power transferring takes time and at 60mph, that's 88 feet. Say, the thing manages to transfer power in 2/10ths of a second(closer to half a second at best) - that's basically the length of the car before it handles the problem. It does no good. Total gimmick. Not unless it's on 100% of the time at some 60/40 or 50/50 type ratio. Well, it will do well in mud and snow to get you started. Jeep, Subaru, Mercedes, and BMW are the only companies that have workable AWD systems currently, because they really are full-time four wheel drive. I just with they had a low-range option. As it is, all you can get is freedom Drive I with manual.

I say just get a classic and avoid the nonsense. 4-5K and you'll not lose a dime on it in depreciation - in fact it may go up a little each year... |

I hope the new owners make this a 2008 change - it would immediately make it a good option. Oh - and I'd also outsource transmissions from GM.

But it is a bit more reliable than Chrysler's junk. They should have swallowed their pride and bought a GM transmission like most of the European makers are.(like it or not, GM does make the best automatics currently)
