I would guess rear wheel bearing, assuming it just sorta appeared on its own (no tire changes or other maintanance)

No tie changes or anything done, but the sound is definately coming from the fromt of the vehicle not the rear.

My engine sounds like it is dragging or in 2nd gear, I just recently had my annual oil change about 2 months ago. Do you think that my engine needs to be tuned?

How many miles on it? Perhaps just a fuel filter change would help for now

It appears that 60k miles was a bad omen. Heard a very loud grinding noise - so I paid $350 to get the passenger wheel bearing replaced.

Now, less than a 1,000 miles later, I notice the coolant level is low. Just diagnosed as a bad head gasket. Dealer wants $1,600 to fix it. I called Pontiac customer service and they are going to get back to me tomorrow, but I doubt I'll see a penny.

If ANYONE from GM is reading this, let me state I'm nearly 40 years old. I have never purchased anything but GM vehicles and I converted my wife from a VW lover to a GM lover. I have always told my kids to buy GM products and I always suggest GM to friends and relatives, but if GM thinks that a blown head gasket - which is COMMON on these vehicles - is something they can stick to their customers I will never buy a GM product again. This isn't just a bad month for me and my Aztek - GM has been working on losing my business when they sold me this vehicle in 2003 and then, less than four years of ownership later, they end analog transmission service for OnStar. That's wonderful - I paid $600 extra to get OnStar, paid my monthly fees and then when the car starts to get old, when you really want the extra service, they kill analog service.

I predict I will become the person I despise - an IMPORT owner. I'm already researching Honda's and Toyota's because I doubt Pontiac customer service will come through for me.

Squealing when turning the steering wheel by bruckmann

This just started yesterday.
When I turn my steering wheel (both ways) it squeals. Its not coming from under the hood, or so it appears.
Does anyone have any possible idea as t what this could be?

It could be a couple of things. First check to make sure your power steering fluid is at the proper level. If that's OK, your brakes could be too tight - did you have them done recently? Last thing is your power steering pump could be going bad. Good luck.

HELP!!!>>>>>Bump or Hard Shift ?? by froggyq

Hello Everyone,
I just purchased a 2001 Aztek AWD last week. It drives smooth and quiet. But after after a hour or so of driving or when I come from riding the turnpike at 70mph and stop at the toll booth and then accelrate it shifts HARD like a bump or light thud from gear to gear very sparatic. If I turn it off and let it sit and ride it no problems. It seems like every other start or after a hour of riding it brings on the hard/noticable shifting.
Can anyone tell me if this is a tranny problem or just a quirk with this vehicle?
Also what the average temp. while running/driving?
Mine stays at half and goes to 3/4 while sitting at a light and then cools down again to a bit above the half?
Normal or not?
Any help or info would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Your transmission is not normal - it should not be doing that.

I'd be even more concerned with your average temperature. GM just settled a lawsuit about DexCool (http://www.dexcoolsettlement.com/).

As an Aztek owner the car starts to deteriorate badly after five years. I really hope you got this from a dealer and can bring it back for something else - or at least bought warranty coverage. Believe me it will be worth it.

Good luck and try not to by GM products any more. My Aztek taught me my lesson.
