Mazda reports 46 percent jump in quarterly profit By YURI KAGEYAMA ASSOCIATED PRESS Mazda, one of the few bright spots lately in the Ford family of automakers, reported a 46 percent jump in profit for the latest quarter on Thursday as Japan’s fifth-largest automaker heads toward a record profit for the sixth straight year. Mazda Motor Corp., 33.9 percent owned by Ford Motor Co., recorded 14.9 billion yen ($123.3 million) in net profit for the three months through December, up from 10.2 billion yen the same period a year earlier. Demand was strong in the U.S. for the Mazda CX-7 sport utility vehicle, Mazda5 family car and MX-5 Miata sportscar, the company said in a release.

Replying to: nmk (Feb 08, 2007 6:09 pm) where are these "U.S. sales" for the CX-7 supposed to be? I've barely seen a handful of CX-7's on the road in the Tampa Bay Area, and I mean this literally. I've been quite surprised by this. I really expected to see more of these cars on the road in my town than what I've seen so far.

All too true. I have seen two in New Zealand, one in Catskill, NY, one in Teaneck, NJ and one on the NY State Thruway. BTW, my CEL went on for the first time this morning. It has been in the teens and twenties for the past week here. HMmmm, wonder if it is the temp? Darth Vader Grey AWD w/Tech Package
