Article comments for First Drive: 2008 Dodge Avenger - The 2008 Dodge Avenger is still living with the burden of an old SNL skit by actor Will Ferrell. Don't believe us? Then say this aloud: "I drive a Dodge Stratus." Now scream it as if your hair were on fire. (more)

Why don't we qualify? Do we not own 2008 Avengers? Go figure!

As you've probably already figured out it doesn't matter what model year you own, it is when you bought it that counts.

I bought a new '07 Sebring this past September. It was built on the same assembly line as the Avenger. It came OFF the assembly line before any '08 Sebrings or Avengers. Since I bought it after the 07/26/2007 lifetime warranty started the warranty was included at no extra charge.

I know you think it stinks that Chrysler won't make the warranty retroactive but they have to establish a date somewhere.

Bought my Wife's red R/T monday night, brought it back to the dealer Tuesday morning after getting a speeding ticket 60/45. I was not paying attention , didnt seem like I was going that fast. Anyway the check engine light and tire pressure
light was on, they had to reset it due to the battery not being used, before I test drove it they had to charge the battery.

Today I got my windows tinted and rain guards,
next aluminum avenger door plates and moon roof deflector.

and then this kit off ebay

You can't post an ad here, but it's okay to share links to auto-related things that other people might be interested in.

4 cylinder Avenger Test Drive by badgerfan

I test drove a 4 cylinder Avenger last week, mostly because the dealer was having a big promotion and giving away some freebies.

I was highly unimpressed. The 4 cylinder version is ridiculously noisy when pushed even a little bit, and it had to downshift two gears under even fairly slight throttle application at about 40-50 mph on flat roads. I was highly unimpressed. Hard to believe Chrysler put effort into a new model that performs so poorly. I am not new car market, but I quickly decided even if I was, this would not be the vehicle of choice. My 2000 Taurus SES with the Duratech V-6 is a much more satisfying vehicle, and I am going to keep it at least another 3-4 years. My sister-in law's new 4 cylinder Hyundai Sonata was much quieter and smoother than this Avenger

In September 07, i purchased the SXT and I really do love it. I purchased the 4 cylinder 172 hp. My only complaint is that this car really has no pick up. One you get up there you're flying but it takes a little longer to get it going. I dunno if this is my car or if its all SXTs. I just feel like it takes a while to pick up. Also, I'm constantly filling up the tank. It's only $40 to fill it up so I guess i have a small gas tank thus it gets burned up quickly - not really sure. But those are my only complaints with the car. Does anyone know a website where I could find the chrome/aluminum window moldings (goes between the back and front windows)? I can't find it for the 08 model. If so thanks so much.

In 2/08 I bought the Avenger SXT Flexifuel,189hp-2.7 6cyl; I fill w/reg gas I am getting 26mi per gal, when I fill it w/E-85 it's running between 20-23mi per gal. the car moves when you want it too, seems to have better hp &lower gas mil w/E85,
with reg gas I get better gas mi. & less hp-still nice on the wallet filling up w/E85.Love the car, loaded , heated seats, all power real good ride , nav syst,cd,bluetooth , within a month have put 2000k miles on it. Real head turner, lot's of looks & compliments on the car. I was looking at the '08 charger-it was overpriced and did not have as many options......so for the same money I got the Avenger and saved 5k. No complaints, very pleased with the car-now the wife wants one!

08 avenger test drive by steven39

i also test drove a 08 avenger SE and was highly dissapointed...i felt that it handled and sounded like i was driveing a truck or something...furthermore,the msrp for this avenger se was close to 20,000.00 and did not include anti-lock brakes...i found this disturbing and left the dodge dealer and walked across the street to the honda dealer to check out the 08 accords.......test drove a 08 accord lx and the difference between the avenger and the accord is night and day...first off,08 accord msrp for my accord was 20,895.00....only 700.00 more for the honda which included anti-lock brakes, better resale value, and a much better built car simply put......with so much better competition out there for the same or a little more money why would anyone invest in a dodge product...dodge=poor reliability, very bad resale value.....

MY 08 avenger a/c will run for only 15 seconds before kicking off - a restart of engine and same happens again. Have changed the compressor, a/c line vale,
sensor under the front bumper cover . Nothing helps, Anyone ever heard of this or have suggestions.
No warranty on car since it has been repaired (recent accident)
