#1 of 8 SPEEDOMETER ISSUE.. by mataus

THIS LAST WEEKEND I HIT A VERY LARGE POTHOLE WITH MY 1991 IZUSU 5 SPEED MANUAL 2.8 LETER. IN DOING SO, MY SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. I AM THINKING THAT MAYBE SOMETHING CAME LOSE. DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW HOW I MIGHT BE ABLE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED...

I was driving home a few weeks ago and noticed that it was on zero. I had no clue why. I got to asking around and someone suggested that it was rust that broke the cable (assuming that's why it's not working). It makes sense to me, I was offroad a few days before that and got it in about a foot and a half or so of water.
I'm wondering though if it broke due to rust, wouldn't the strands of cable still interweave and make the speedometer act wierd?
 I've noticed that not only is the speedometer broke, the odometer and other milage tracking guage don't work either. Obviosly they require eachother to work, that's a no brainer.
 I haven't inspected it yet, but I'm going to be working on it these next three days. I'm fixing an exhaust leak and an oil leak, so I might as well mess with it too while I'm under there. I'll be sure to post if I figure out anything useful.

forgot to mention, It's also a 91 with the 2.8L V6. It is an automatic though, 4 speed I think.

Hi guys. I got a 93 Isuzu Trooper Ls 3.2 dull over head cam 4x4. its got 24000 mills on it. looks like new runs good. but last week my speedo stoped working. it works when it feels like it and some time's i just stops. Most the time it will not work for the frist few mins then start working. O ya its 5 speed man trans. someone have a clue what may be the trouble. I was told it may be the speedomoter sensor. if so where the heck is it heheh. Thanks for the help. Ps love to see all the peeps willing to help out here.

I have a 1993 trooper. transmission is out for the second time. I have other issues with current Suv like A/C and front end. I am looking to purchase a similar year model to swap parts....what year models are compatible with 1993?
